Which Wires do what?

Ok, lately I've been thinking about putting a switch and button in my car to act as the ignition switch because it is kind of kicking the bucket. My idea is to use the foglight button as the On/off switch and purchase a simple button to activate the starter motor. I took off the casing around the ignition today to see what I'm dealing with and was quite surprised to see what looks to be much simpler wiring than I could have guessed. So now all I need to know is, which wire goes where, and which should I have connected to what?

I got some information on NASIOC, and now I'm at the point that I need to figure out how to wire in the relays and which wires should go where.

I'd like to know this as well. I'd like to put a killswitch on my cars that makes the ignition not work if the switch is engaged.

That is for the Flux Capacitor, a common feature for 97-98.

I hate to state the obvious, but for all this work, wouldnt it just be easier to replace the ignition switch?

Your going to need heavy duty relays, wiring, switches.

i can tell you those two small black wires are. ground contacts for the key dinger

I don't want to just replace the ignition switch... that's boring! I don't know, my car needs to be unique somehow. I'm not an electrical whizz so I'm still learning.


Oh, key dinger, would there be any ill effects if I removed them? Or would it just ding all the time. I currently undid a little box under my kick panel that removes the ding noise but removing those two wires seem a little bit safer.

when you put the key in the completes the ground for the chimer. so i guess if you unplug it it wont ding ever

yeah or you can unplug the door chime module/relay. im about to do it. my chimers sounds like its dying

Well, now I'm at the point where I just need to wire everything up! Can't wait to go home on Friday (all my tools are there) and get started!

it should be on the back of kick panal right under the steering wheel.

Oh, the module is called an SRS Timer , or something like that. If you leave the key in the ignition and open the door so it dings. Just start undoing modules starting in the center. You'll know when you get the right one when it stops dinging.

Ok, I looked in the kick panel, it's called Seat Belt Timer module. It's on the far left of the panel.

wait a second....

out cars have a ding for the key? how about the seatbelt? mine never has, but the little seatbelt light comes on for a second when u start the car, then turns off.... lol

have a ding for the key when the key is turned to ACC or OFF and the drivers door is open. no seatbelt
