The gasket piece that is between the catalytic converter & midpipe, is it a donut or an actual thin metal base gasket?
I ordered a gasket for it from the local Autozone, but its a thin metal gasket and I was expecting a donut sort of gasket. The hardware is two bolts with springs holding the joint together is why I was expecting the donut.
Thanks guys,
Mike

it is a donut gasket (liquid metal cone type).. those aftermarket gaskets have lots of applations. some times you get the right p/n gasket but it can be to small or big. if you get this get a gasket at subaru

Thanks! That's what I figured.
I'll see if I can get the part number for the donut gasket online for Subaru and order it. My local guy is pricey.

Keep in mind, Subaru gaskets are expensive.
Check out Grimmspeed.com for their gaskets. They are supposedly 22% thicker than the OEM gaskets.

I ordered the cone/donut gasket last night from Dan Perkin's Subaru in Milford. Part Number 44022AA062 for $7. I'm paying more in shipping, but that is better than taking the time off from work to get it.
2.5GT - Thanks for the heads up, I'll check out Grimmspeed beforehand next time for gaskets.

I got my donut gasket from crappy Stamford Subaru.. but I got my knock sensor from Dan Perkin's
IMHO it's worth the extra drive to Dan Perkins due to a more "Friendly customer Service" for parts
Speaking of that how many cone gaskets are used in the exhaust? what about from the mid-pipe to the axle back? Reason I ask is I brought one from the dealer and it's just sitting in my dresser.

only cone/dount is the cat to mid. all others are flat metal gaskets

Go OEM. Both on my Legacy and a '01 Forester at work that's getting a new(er) motor, aftermarket gaskets were either too big or too small.
Not worth the headache.
