Broken JDM Headlight Tab - Best Fix?

Hey,

I just received my JDM Projectors, but one of the tabs broke off in transit :smt010

What is the best method/glue substance to fix this?

Like 99SUS said, Gorilla glue is real good too, especially with plastic.

Yeah, I was thinking there are better options than Krazy Glue for this application. I'll have to check out Gorilla Glue, thanks.

you can guy it at Home depot and I think walmart has it..

but be warned DO NOT USE A BUNCH at once.. it expands so it will get messy if you use too much..

Also make sure you take the air out of the bottle after you close it up or the whole bottle will get hard and become useless.

Drill two holes in the broken off piece and two holes in the stub coming off the headlight. Lash the holes together with zip ties. I held a headlight in that way for 3 months. My corner light is still held in that way and my fenderwell liners have been held in that way for 6 months now. If you cut the tails off the zip ties nobody will ever notice.
There is also a substance called plastic weld that is two chemicals that must be mixed together and on contact they will fuse the plastic together. A combination of the two methods would be very strong, but for me zip ties alone work just fine.

yep. My tab snap right off like yours did. I went to Advance Auto and bought a plastic epoxy. It comes in two tubes and you mix those together and then apply it on the broken pieces. It still help up after more than one year..

im not a really fan of the plastic epoxy. doesnt hold as well as the general purpose epoxy

Thanks for the advice guys. I may end up doing both the epoxy and the zipties for good measure, we'll see tomorrow.

thats happened on my BE headlights. You can use a piece of aluminum underneath with some bolts and a drill to bolt it together.

I used a piece of aluminum as well, then drilled holes and wrapped fine steel wire around the holes until the plastic was lashed tightly to the steel wire. Then I slathered epoxy on.
