Which do you think? I sold the BBS RGR's. The gold was just getting too flashy for me, trying for a more OEM look. Plus I just couldn't stand the idea of bending them or screwing them up on the beautiful Detroit roads. The final straw was I just test fitted them on the upcoming brake upgrade and found out I would need a 5mm spacer to get them to clear...sigh :smt022

I think the wheels are yuck (7-spokes not my fav), but for $300 who gives a crap? :lol: Break one, bend one, curb one, wont cost you much at all and you wont feel nearly as bad as if you broke or bent a wheel that costs as much as those cost as a whole set. Even at $500 for new wheels, it's a much better deal.

I'm hoping you got the Weapons so you can run at least a 235 compared to a 215 with the Sevens.

Just in case :wink: Actually, I had a brain fart and only realize today the sevens had a polished lip. I have had bad luck with polished lips, from the cheap ADR's on the minivan to the BBS RGR's that I just sold, those are always more prone to peeking and bits of asphalt sticking onto them than a regular painted rim.

i just dont like the look of stretched tires, plus its a lot harder to curb your wheel if tire is wider

I think the weapons look way cooler but yeah do you need the 8". Id probably save money and go with the 7's there lighter and a better fit

Yeah I know what you mean about the stretched look; I don't think 8" will stretch out the tires too bad, the 05+ sti's came with 17x8 bbs and the still used the 225/45. The F1's I'll be mounting on them has a sectional width of 9+" so it's no where near vdub stretch. I'm still crossing my fingers on brake fitment though. Supposedly the weapons can fit over brembos, but I haven't found 100% confirmation on that - that wouldve really cemented whether or not the z32 calipers will be able to clear these wheels, but we'll see in a few days.

hah Roger, if you're serious, I got a couple of wheel sets I can offer you for cheap...depends though if you want some mint bling summer wheels, beater track/winter wheels, or some decent daily driver wheels though (I have more of the last two though, I already sold the bling :-( )

The MB/A-techs clear Stoptechs for sure, and I'm pretty sure they'll clear Brembos; they had a mile of space. They're awesome wheels for the money, and the finish on them is really nice and durable.
And a 225 or a 235 on a 178 isn't stretch by any means, it's a perfect fitment. Those F1's do run a touch narrow, but nothing bad, and the grip makes up for it.

thanks for the fitment advice sybir. There was an RS near my place with the weapons on and I couldn't resist measuring his rotor clearance (must have been weird to someone seeing me do that :lol:) Looks like I'll have the room for the calipers. I read some of the reviews for the weapons and the finish was the deciding factor over cost - I'd rather have the finish last as much as possible on new wheels rather than taking the chance that the polished lip's clearcoat will start peeling on me in a couple of years.

so little faith in me :-( I have keep these wheels around for at least a couple of years...my wallet won't allow any more wheels :lol:

Also, test fitted the wheels. Plenty of room for the new brakes, looks hella frush on the car; no doubt even brembos will fit under these. Maybe a fender roll is in my future...

I'll update the rides thread with better pics. I think the rears are ok for now, but I'll definitely need to roll the rear fenders for some wider tires in the future...
