View Full Version : Oil Pan Replacement Help :'(

today i slllllllAMMED into a rock going about 25-30 and it bent the shit out of the front of my oil pan and a bit in back.... i was about 2 miles from anywhere so as oil rushed out i had to quickly drive to civilization and my car died as soon as i hit the parking lot...

hopefully my engine will be okay but the only way to find out would be replacing the oil pan, and gasket, then getting some oil up in there... :(

is it pretty straight forward? drain if any oil is left, unscrew it and replace the stuff? or is there more to it?

the bolts in the rear are hidden up behind the crossemember. so you need unbolt the dogbone and motor mounts and jack the engine up some to access them. other than that its unbolt and replace. just remove the dipstick, unbolt dogbone, motor mount, lift the engine up, remove the rear row of bolts, lower the engine down. unbolt the rest. give it a good tap and it should loosen up. theres no gasket from the factory(some cars) so you might need to pry it off the engine. theres one o-ring on a return in the back of the pan. just make sure it goes on the new pan. and hope your motor isnt toast

check the oil pickup too. And you need to pick up some fujibond or honda-bond (whatever honda uses to seal their engine parts) from the dealer, it's what you use to seal the pan to the engine. Just make sure the surfaces are free from oil, you may want to let the engine drain for a few hours after you take the pan off to be sure.

justin that sucks man.. if your motor died it probably is toast. im sorry to say. but yo may just need to rebuild it. put some new bearings in and get a new crank. you should be fine after that.
