What to do?

Might be picking up a automatic '98 L wagon with 150k that needs a motor. Timing belt snapped and the pistons went all nom nom nom on the valves.

It's cheap enough, and I've always wanted a wagon!

Now should I buy it, and spend many hours and hours swapping my 2.5 and MT (and who knows what else) into it?

Should I buy it, and part it out to some lucky SLi members?

Or should I pass on it?

You could buy it, and then sell the stock parts. The tranny's got to be ok.

Then take the shell, and truck it over to ECS for da mad swapzies.

Looked at it. A little dirty inside. Front bumper's been repainted and is chipping. Surface rust on the right rear in the normal spot, but nothing on the left rear. It's not bubbled either so maybe it's an easy fix? Mine bubbled before it rusted through, yet looks tons worse from inside. Didn't want to be an ass and ask if I could pull his interior apart to check, plus the ack of the wagon was full of stuff, including the parts the shop took off the motor to determine it's condition (belts, pulleys, covers, timing belt remnants). They want $700 just to CHECK the motor to see if the valves are bent (probably are) and about $2k to put in a motor.

For the price he wants to sell it for though I can't complain. Hell, I could source a motor for less than that, put it in, sell it as a runner and make a profit.

BUT.... would be more fun as a swapped wagon.

Got till Monday to make a decision. Guy needs to ge a copy of the title first. :neutral:

Well, it's a done deal. Still on the fence as to what to make of it. Gonna go though it this week. Post my findings. :smt024
