View Full Version : Fuel injector swap

Will the fuel rail system from a 2002 Ej25 fit a 1998 Ej25? The injectors are different, I was just wanting to know because I have access to 800cc Venoms but they're from a newer car.

Yeah this is the third time I edited this post. I found more information, specifically the year or era actually of the injectors I can get my hands on.

They're obviously two different sized injectors so I figured the rails need to swap.
So the question is if that's even possible to do that with a salvaged fuel rail from a newer car.

its possible. you need to rewire the top feed injector plugs on to your harness.. but let me ask why do you need bigger injectors. its going to be point less to run them on your 2.5, and it might not run right

You do have a point.. I don't know. I like to think out loud sometimes. I have that 225 fuel pump, I could get something like a Sard fuel pressure regulator to help fuel flow, but more than likely using the stock ECU I'll have problems.

the other thing is you have side feed injectors and if there top feed you need different rails. plus you need tunes for larger injectors

Yes definitely going with the 800 retrofit would leave me with going to specialized ECU tuning to deal with all that.
Oh well.. one can wish.

you definitely need to adjust the ECU scaling on the injectors or it will run like crap. Figure out the electronic end to this first before going ahead with the mechanical stuff.

Also, the light blue WRX topfeeds are around 430cc, more than enough for an N/A. To put it into perspective, few wrx guys go with the 800cc because it's only when you're using E85 or going to be boosting over 20psi that that extra fuel overhead is really needed. Most of them can eek out 300whp easy on the 550cc/565cc pinks/06 wrx injectors.
