something i have noticed about my legacy has confused me, and it is very hard to recreate but on occasion if for whatever reason i drop below 2.5k rpm and then decide that i need to speed up again then as soon as i hit the the 2.5 mark i get a surge of power and begin to accelerate more quickly, i really noticed it when i was auto-xing but was busy having fun to complain.

any thoughts, not throwing any codes

Yeah the 2.2 (esp. older models) don't have a very even powerband and there is not a lot of power below 2.5k rpm anyway, so that sounds normal. Still good to keep up on all the maintenance (air filter, plugs, etc.) though to keep the motor running as smooth as it can.

yeah I get the same kinda thing, once over 3000 rpm i get a little surge, almost feels like hitting the turbo on a diesel truck

i'll double check my filter and plugs i doubt that is the issue though they were both changed recently

Mine was doing the same sort of thing. The RPM's bottom out and then surge back. Well I went to the stealership and they diagnosed it as a fouled front o2 sensor. I replaced it and it runs great now. I do still need to replace the cat as that is the cause of the fouled o2.

Sounds pretty normal for the 2.2; like jey said, the powerband is not very linear. My sister has a 99 BD with the Phase II 2.2, and it does the same thing.

Yeah I also have a TSR with that problem but mine is even worse I need to go up to 4k to 6k rpm to get that surge like a turbo kicking in or vtec, I need to change the MAF sensor but since the motor runs I keep postponing
