hey guys.

just bought my first Subaru, a 97 legacy gt. got it for the wife, come to find out someone had removed the check engine light, ran the codes and it came back with these two.

P0106-pressure circuit out of range
p0441-evap purge control

i am trying to tackle the MAP sensor issue first, i hooked up my vacuum guage to the brake booster line, just to eliminate the possibility of the engine not pulling enough vacuum, that checked fine.

now as i stand perplexed in front of this motor(this being my first Subaru), i notice that there are quite a few vacuum pressure sensors, one on the pass side strut tower, one on the pass side of intake manifold. this one has what i assume should be a check valve near it, but you can blow thru it in both directions(problem?), and one on the drivers side of intake manifold, there is also what appears to be a vacuum regulator/diaghram(for lack of better knowledge) on the drivers side on intake that shares alot of these vacuum hoses.

wich sensor is the manifols pressure sensor? what are the others? etc?

any advice on where to start trying to figure this MAP sensor problem out?

anyone know where to download a copy of the factory service manual?
i downloaded one but its pretty crappy.

thanks!

Aaron

That is the pressure sensor.

The one with two vacuum hoses going to it is the purge control solenoid. That is what I would try replacing first. If your purge control solenoid is stuck open, it could cause the pressure to read low.

hey, can you guys tell me if these are hooked up correctly? i know a motor swap has been done on this car. wondering if someone got the vacuum lines mixed up, cant find any of these sensors in the junk yard so just want to eliminate the possibility of screwed up vacuum routing..

ive taken a long look at all the hoses andreplaced anything ive found to be cracked etc/

obviously theres more to this system, but these are the only pics i coulf get up right now.

do i have the map correclty identified? as well as the presser control selenoid? and what is this i have labeled as ?

thanks in advance.

I have not spent a lot of time staring at the EJ25, but I wonder what year motor you got swapped in. The ? valve you have in the pictures is the Pressure Sources Switching Solenoid Valve.

Looking at your hoses I see some problems - the T hose that hooks your manifold to your the canister is causing the vacuum to draw in from the canister constantly, completely bypassing the solenoid. That can't be right.

Where is the hose on the outside nipple of the Purge Control Solenoid currently going to? Outside nipple of the Purge Control Solenoid (Which you have correctly identified) should go to the intake manifold. Inside nipple goes to the canister. My 98 EJ22 didn't have an inline filter but looking at my 95 EJ22 it does have one between the purge control solenoid and the canister. So I don't think that's in the right place either.

No wonder you have those CEL codes...

rearranged my vacuum hoses and both codes have been clears and not returned. thanks for your help guys.
