so i'll start this with some background...at 34 i've only really ever drove "beaters"...had some real quick civics....some autocross rabbits...but on that note, i'm having my second child and well it was time to grow up and get a nice family car....so i bought a 05 lgt limited....i love it, my favorite car i have ever owned...has everything i wanted...but being on a legacy forum i don't have to go into that......well here it is

well i have had it for a total of two weeks.....here is where things go horribly wrong...i was driving my two year old boy to the park on a nice thursday moring to play....when out of nowhere...and i mean nowhere i never saw her.....a caddy decied that it would be a good time to run her stop sign......and proceded to hit me....nethier of us was doing more then 25mph at the time....i was still in 1st gear......don't know how many of you have been in a wreak with your lgt but it did well....no one injured...shit my little boy didn't even cry....but with that being said it's at the garage now with at least 6k worth of damage...insurance still hasen't look over totaly....as far as i know right now it needs, new hood,new front fender, new side skirt,new bumper, new head light/tail light....front frame pushed just enough to hit the timing belt cover....big dent over the rear tire.....new front left suspension, new tire/rim...

and mind you that i'm a grown man....and this shit makes me sick to my stomach and brings a tear to my eyes just thinking about it...insurance is going to fix it, but come on a car is never the same after a wreck....sorry this is kind of long but i have to get it out.....i'm extremly bummed

That is terrible, your GT looked so nice too. I'm glad you and your son are fine though; looks like that 5 star safety rating came through.

I know how you feel to have a vehicle that you love for a short time just to lose it like that. Good luck with the insurance and hopefully you'll be in a Legacy again soon.

yea me to.....for only having it a short time i really became attached.....the only thing that really concerns me about them fixing it is the frame....it wasn't horrible but still moved.....the body work is well body work.....i will say that progressive has been outstanding so far quick response they had it at the garage about 2hrs after i filed my claim.....and according to them they stand by there repairs 100% for as long as i own it......well see about that one

yea most like will have a R title...frame slightly tweaked....just enough to put a hairline crack in the timing belt cover..and no the srs didn't deploy

yea it would have been alot worst if i was in my 91 civic hatch.....it would have crumbled in to a tin can.....i'll give subaru the thumbs up for there safety.....a horrible thing to say but at the time of impact it made a soild thud...as far as me and the boy i felt very safe

Guh I know what you mean about the solid bang, too. One of my Subarus has worn it in the back end from a truck (TRUCK truck, not ute truck... giant daycab with bullbars)...sickening crunch, still drove straight despite the back being rather caved in. Salvageable too, just an expensive fix. Gotta love the way that in a Subaru, you get a crash like that and you're thinking 'Argh! My car!' rather than being all OHNOES THAR BE BLOOD EVERYWHERE...

So glad insurance is going to fix that for you. She's too nice a car and far too new to be written off. And as long as the guys do a good job, you shouldn't see TOO much of a difference post-accident, right?

i really don't know what is going on right now.....was supposed to hear from the insurance guy today and i haven't yet....i should be finding out what they are doing with it.....i'm 50/50 on if it's totaled or there going to fix it.....i don't know how much of a difference it will be after they fix it....time will tell i guess....

Side impacts are the worst really, banana chassis isn't fun. But I've seen worse...

I guess I was lucky. Got it square in the rear! Didn't even touch the drivetrain.

If they total it, then at least you'll have another one without accident damage. Still... you get so attached to the lil fullas so quickly eh! Time will tell, when they finally get back to you :-?

suck man.. glad to see your all alright. it depends on where you live if they salvage, repair, or no change your title.. but if you they do total the car your should buy it back. and either part it out or swap an older car

yea it would...but i don't....i know if i did...i would find all kinds of shit wrong....who would have know that a side inpact could ruin my turbo and intercooler...oh what?....you saying the block needs rebuilt with better rods and pistions.....lol....not happening..but would be damn cool

yeah thank goodness you're alright.. it's a shame to see stuff like this happen, actually just saw a fender bender this morning. Legacy's are rock solid built cars and everyday i put my full confidence in my car to protect me just in case something like this happens. my car has been in only 1 accident and it pulled through, cost way too much tho; something like $6000-8000 to fix. still sucks that the frame was hit.. hopefully nothing that a few pounds from a hammer wouldn't fix? haha, Good Luck with insurance peoples and such..

From experience, an Impreza with bucket seats and tall people in the front = less than a knee's gap in the back. They are SMALL as family cars! I got put in the back seat of my own...it was hilarious, I ended up stuffing one leg across the back seat.

My Legacy doesn't miss a beat as far as that goes...of course ;)

Hang in there...surely there'll be another Leggy out there!

I couldn't freak out when I got asspacked, there were injured people I had to attend, and I was the only one who wasn't fucking stupid involved in the wreck. I was stopped at a stop light, a van stopped behind me. The van got rear ended by a BMW at 35+, and the van was shoved into me. Only the fact that I like to actually leave some distance between my car and the car infront of me prevented a fourth car from being involved.

Immediatley after, the Lady in the van called HER BOSS. The lady in the beamer called her husband. There's an entire lane of traffic blocked by a 3 car wreck, in HEAVY FOG, and you're calling your boss?! Give me a break. I had to call 911, I requested an ambulance because the lady in the BMW broke her nose on the airbag, though she declined treatment. The lady in the van got really messed up, her back was toast.

Anyway, my car got fixed 100%, but I didn't have nearly as much damage. Hell, my WRX isn't even worth $7k anymore, according to KBB.com.

Good luck getting it fixed, maybe insurance will total it and you can get an 06 2.5GT. :)

yea they did total it ...and i haven't found any lgt in my price range....so i ended up buying a black 04 wrx wagon.....i pick it up on fri and then dumping about 800 miles into going up and back to rochester NY....guess that is a good way to get used to it....not going to lie though my lgt would have walked the wrx

The rex looks to be in pretty good shape though, at least you stayed in the Subaru family.

yea i know who would have .5 liter of displacement could be that much.....the wagon is in great shape in and out....no dents/rust paint has next to no swirl in it....interior is clean....at least it was detailed well.... :eek: from the car fax two owners....first one only had it 4 months and the second had it till now....i looked over it well but you never really know till you wash a car right.....ran strong i guess two weeks with the lgt and that is still fresh in my head....kinda a dog down low.....boost really kicks in at 3000 i can see where a stage 2 set up will really help.....possible a 18g and the goodie to go along with it.....ya staying with subaru...i will say i LIKE the wrx but i'm not in love yet

You'll find that with two kids the wagon will be a better hauler for you - and as for the down low, easily solved with a up/down pipe combo and an ECUTek reflash. Getting a nice catback exhaust (plus the tune obviously) will really help with the responsiveness.

I wrapped my exhaust and it helped with low end, less of a dog. I hit full boost at 2,700 rpm (verified with a boost gauge now), and make 10 PSI at 2,500 rpm. Eh. I also have a catless UP.

Very nice. And, the Impreza just seems like it's easier to mod than the Legacy, I dunno why...
