Finally decided to put up a member's ride journal, so that I can document my progress. I bought my '97 GT in March of 2009 because I've been obsessed with Subarus for two years prior and done lots of research and reading about them. I was dying to get something 5 speed and AWD. I bought the car with 137k miles on it and it is in pretty good condition and runs great. The body is definitely not perfect, right now the drivers side front fender is dented up and there are parts of the car that have been repainted. The interior is in okay shape, the steering wheel is torn up, and the shift boot is pretty worn but, the sunroof/moonroof works good! I just want to mod the car as I go and just make it fun, and I hope to rallycross it at least once. So far my only mods are an '05 LGT shift knob, a drivers side fog light from dplacencia, and some DIY mudflaps. I also removed the snorkus, I'm not sure if this is considered a mod or not. I've got lots of things planned for the future. Bigger rear swaybar, some type of upgraded intake, borla headers, cross drilled rotors, snow tires and rims for winter setup, a new shift boot, and more.
Here it is in March of '09

you should try to get the rear bumper lip to match the front and side ones. just did my DIY mudflaps too! they look freakin awesome! i like how the edges on yours are rounded, never thought about doing that..

Made a small cosmetic update recently and thought I'd add it here. Painted my Subaru badge. It looks a little different and I like it. I just couldn't see paying $35.00 for a pink badge, so I did it myself!
Part of the process, after removing the old paint.

Small update. I orded some borla replica headers off of ebay and just recieved and installed them. I'm happy with them so far. They're a tiny bit louder than stock (I am running stock exhaust after the headers) and feel more powerful but, I did get a P0133 CEL code about 25 miles after the install. Here's some pics.
Finally got them.

What was the name of the headers you found online??? Does anyone happen to know if they make these for the EJ22

These headers are from ebay and will only work on the 2.5L engines because they are dual port heads. The 2.2L takes single port headers and so far the only ones that I know of are sold through a vendor on www.rs25.com (http://www.rs25.com).
Here's the link:

i got mine from the same place, but i have an ej22 with dual port headers.. its a 1995.. you just have to look under the car and see if it is single or dual to make sure.
the headers look awesome now, but they do kinda turn colors after using them.. lets just say after an iowa winter they are NOT shiney anymore. i noticed that loudness increase, sounds pretty cool. i got a CEL code too, but mine's P0420 which is a cat failure, do you know what P0133 is?

PO133 is an O2 Sensor Slow Response Bank 1, Sensor 1 code. I've had others tell me that this can be fixed without replacing the sensor. They said that the grease and oil inside the headers coats the sensor and throws the code and you can take it out and clean the sensor with some brake or carb cleaner and put it back in and it'll be fine.

Nice updates, should have got the adhesive wheel weights to avoid having any marks on the fresh wheel paint. :)
