My Refinished 06 WRX Wheels

So I've been busy lately.

I bought some 06 WRX wheels for $175 about a month ago and finally refinished them. I'm going to school for Industrial design and am taking full advantage of my resources so I went ahead and blasted them, and powder coated them in a near-BBS gold. They came out spectacular and look like the WRX WR wheels (came stock in Gold).

Also, I made some carbon fiber center caps (not shown but I will get pics tomorrow, just like all my other posts lol).

I think they fit the car very well, but let me know what you think!

Oh, and they are wrapped in 225/45/R17 Riken Raptors.

It comes in VERY handy. I've actually done 6 sets of wheels up to date, shift knobs, tow hooks (check my thread!) swaybars for an El Camino, and the list goes on... Pretty much the coolest finishing ever.

That's awesome! Those wheels look so cool, and I love the color. I've been looking hard for a set of WRX wheels of any kind for my BD so I can paint them gold and this is even more motivation!

it's not paint, I had to rebuild the fronts so that's actually a new bridge, which means it's cleaner than the rest...

And bump for pics of my Carbon fiber center caps! You can't powdercoat plastic so I had to think of something. And rather than pay $$$ to get custom paint matched for just the center caps. I grabbed some previously laid up carbon I had and just made these.

I think I may get a vinyl decal of the Subaru Stars or something to break up the look of them.

Hmm, good thinking... black powder coat here I come. Only question is, gloss or semi-flat?

Go gloss. It'll contrast nice with the gold (which looks kind flattish).

Does anyone on here have those wheels painted gold like that on a green bd? I just traded my MB Weapons for some 06 wrx wheels that someone painted black and did a horrible job. I was thinking going gold but haven't seen them on a green bd. seen gold on other colors

LOL yea I had them for a couple years and got bored of them. Plus they where +46 offset so rubbing was always an issue. I am lowering my car finally so the wrx +55 offset works alot better

Question: What do you do with a Industrial Design degree? Does it allow you to build $#!+ out of plastics, metals and other composites?

BTW, Arvada is not too far from me. I'm in Westminster. Maybe you could powdercoat a few things for some cash.

Industrial design is basically product design. Anything and everything (almost) has been touched by an industrial designer. From the iPod to your toothbrush, it's all industrial design. And for the degree you have to be familiar with all types of materials and finishes, so yes, you build shit out of plastic and composites but you also have to know how to render both physically and digitally, learn all types of finishes and how to use them properly, as well as a whole slew of other things like human factors engineering, product history....etc etc.
