Speed Sensor Question

Hey Guys....I have a 99 Subaru Legacy GT 2.5 Engine Manual, and I'm having issues with my speedometer. The speedometer sometime works and most of the time it doesn't. I've done some research and it says that it is a speed sensor, but I wanted to double check with some of you that have more experience with this issue.

I also need some help finding the stupid thing, I've looked everywhere and no luck? Does anyone have a picture or something that can share so I can locate it?

P.S. I have used "search" but didn't have luck finding any info....

Any help is appreciated....Thank you!

It's kind of in the middle back of the transmission, on the top, and it has a wire or two going to it.

hello i have a 99 legacy Brighton 2.2L automatic transmission and im haveing the same problem with my speed control sensor..i called a Subaru dealer ship and talk to the mechanic and he said its most likely my gauge cluster... i was wandering if you ever figured out whats wrong with your and if you fixed it....i need a little advise on it if ya got any
