Two dash lights are staying on constantly, although it's not related to anything actually being wrong - I've checked... The handbrake (!) and battery [-+] lights stay on constantly. There's a bit of history to this one though:

I installed an alarm a couple of months ago, and to make the remote start feature work it required making a connection to the signal wire from the handbrake, and another connection to the wire to the battery light on the dash. Ever since I made those connections the lights have been on constantly while the ignition's on.

HOWEVER, I finally got around to trying to fix the problem. I never use remote start anyway, so I figured I'd just disconnect those 2 wires and the lights would go out again. But no... they are still on, even with all the wiring to the dash exactly as it was before I installed the alarm.

No problems with the brake pads, brake fluid or oil pressure (changed the oil and filter last weekend and it seems fine), and no problems with the battery - been driving for couple of months with the warning lights on and it starts great each time, so no alternator/charging problems.

Is there something I need to reset to make the lights go out again?

That is the most pointless post ever.

AWD - my guess is that you're grounding out somewhere. Check all your connections again...

both the battery and brake light share a common ground. must of rubbed agains something and is grounding or pin pulled out. im guess you hooked up the wires for the remote start up behind the cluster. so look over those wires and pins. otherwise you cluster could have problems?

Zues, WTF.

And yes, you have a loose ground somewhere, double check the connections of the cluster, something is loose.

haha, Zues...

ok, thanks for the help guys - good to know those lights are linked somehow and it's not multiple things failing.
I'm sure I put the wires back exactly as they were (just cut off the extra wires I soldered on from the alarm) but I'll go over everything with the multimeter this weekend.
