Will an EJ25 fit to my gearbox?

Most of you know more about Legacies than I do so I ask you: I could buy an EJ25 from an Outback and I have a euro 1991 2.2 N/A and I'm wondering if my manual gearbox will fit or not? What do you guys reckon?

Another question is, do you guys think it will get a lot worse mpg?

The EJ25 will bolt right on to the tranny in your 91. Gas mileage will go down in general unless you have some plans on tuning the engine management.

Thanks man. Haha I'm such a newb, I didn´t even know of this "Swaps & Conversions" section...

What about the the things that bolt the motor down... Don't know the name for it in English. Do you think everything will fit?

This should be a great option for me because I get it really cheap and my 2.2 is just 136 hp but the 2.5 is about 150 hp.

Also: Do you think the EJ25D is a worse engine than the EJ22E? I have read that the 25 has some serious head gasket problems?

Motor mounts? There are only two motor mounts at the bottom of the motor the mounting points are the same.

It's hard to beat the reliability of the EJ22 and yes it's a good idea to give that EJ25D a little maintenance before putting it in if you don't know what maintenance has been done to it. Head gaskets, timing belt, water pump, etc. The EJ25 is a good motor too but like any motor you have to keep up on maintenance.
