Worth it to ground the car?

So far two people I had in my car ask how come the car is idling rough?

(it idles around 750)

Anyways I know the motor mounts are old and tired.. I hear the STI motor mounts would feel about the same way because they are more ridged?

Anyways some people say the grounding mod is worthless and some people swear they feel the car is idling smoother..

What do you think?

its kind of worthless. unless your running a bit of a load

a question to change the mounts you jack the motor up using the oil pan and a block of wood right? About how far do you need before you can get to the mounts?

I think most of us have 8+ year old cars with piddly ground contacts and higher levels of corrosion around the terminals. Clean those up first, and for the price of a tank of gas you could DIY your own ground kit.

New engine mounts are always nice.

Yup. You just need to get it up a little for the studs on the motor mounts to come out of the engine crossmember. I guess about 2 inches?

So while doing my transmission fluid today I was checking out the mounts more in detail.. it looks like I need a extension for one side of the mount that is near the crossmember? it must be pretty deep since I could not feel it with my fingers but then again I just came from from a 30 min drive and I've had my fair share of burns.

Don't know what year your dealing with but certain years of injectors are known to cause ruff idle and light throttle hesitation due to poor design. Personally I would try running some Seafoam first, it's the cheapest option to start with.

You want Group N engine mounts, they are much stiffer than the STi mounts.
