Im replacing a cracked steering boot tomorrow. Any pointers in case there are some tricky parts? Also, what kind of lube is recommended for the joint before I cover it up with the boot?

Doing this soon too, just picked up the boots from the dealer today. Looks pretty straightforward - mark the location of the tie rod, remove the cotter pin at the end of the tie rod, separate tie rod from the hub, remove tie rod. I'm planning on using wheel bearing grease, but am definitely open to anyone that has a better suggestion. Also planning on getting an alignment afterwards, car probably needs one anyway.

How long has yours been split? mine has not been split for long but im getting some serious squeaking going on. I hope this can be fixed by repacking with grease and a new boot.

They were torn when I bought the car in March so who knows how long. No play in the front end yet though so I'm hoping a re-grease will be good enough.
