Hi im new here and I just wanted to show u guys/girls my 98 legacy
I got it maybe 10 months ago and the plan was to fix it and sell it fast, that changed a little bit..
I got a salvaged ´02 wrx for a very reasonable price and it was stupid not to swap it in the legacy.
New wheels

So it began
the 2.5 engine is out

And here I was persuading the pedal bracket to fit

the wiring was probably the most painful thing to do in this swap, but with time and much patience it all came together

fitting the engine loom, bit of a mess there
http://img23.imageshack.us/img23/2931/specoswap005.jpg
A LOT of soldering and looking through the diagrams

Drastic measures were needed to fit the wrx instrument panel

the interior slowly coming together
http://img205.imageshack.us/img205/6036/specoswap010.jpg
the instrument panel mix actually was not that bad
http://img204.imageshack.us/img204/7866/specoswap011.jpg
here, everything plugged and it actually started in the first try, but my uppipe was broken so we put in another that we had lying around
and it was a little bit more "bling"
The rest of the exhaust consists of 06 wrx cat-back, but modified to fit the outback.

http://img6.imageshack.us/img6/6846/specoswap0542.jpg
http://img6.imageshack.us/img6/1013/specoswap055.jpg
everything ready, just needed a good cleaning
http://img22.imageshack.us/img22/3554/specoswap067.jpg
..but wait, I had to have a hood-scoop so a donor hood was bought from a ´00 wrx and the mounting bracket cut off
and welded on the legacy hood.

http://img3.imageshack.us/img3/5349/specoswap080.jpg
The swap took 2 weeks, with weekends and many late nights after work  but it was all worth it in the end.
and after I got some decent wheels and the hood prepped and painted, this is the outcome.
(future plans: Lowering springs/coilovers)
