Harmonic balancer on crank pulley?

Is there supposed to be a harmonic balancer on my pulley?

i was on a different board and they were talking about it... but i don't see anything on my pulley. it just fits right up to the woodruff key all metal..

No. The horizontally-opposed nature of the Subaru engine negates the need for a balancer.

There IS a harmonic balancer - it's built into the pulley unless you have an aftermarket one without it. It's the rubbery donut area I believe.

the big rubber chunk insert in the middle of the pully. then steel pulley, then rubber, then more steel
