Here are some facts:
05/18 - Car goes into Coupe's Auto Body in Willoughby for rust removal and respray. Areas affected, all four pillars. Windscreen is removed and replaced by new glass.

09/01 - Car goes back into Coupe's for more rust removal from the driver's pillar. Windscreen not removed.

11/25 - Windscreen cracks

11/30 - Windscreen removed by Safelite Auto glass technician. Rust in pics above is discovered. Based on visual inspection, rust in there is more than 6 months old, and should have been repaired on 05/18.

11/30 - I call Coupe's and request an onsite assessment because I'm angry that they failed to do a proper job.

This essentially makes this car completely undrivable, and probably unsaleable.

how did that happen? what were your reasons for removing rust on pillars, were they showing rust? Is this commen?

Not very good at all, they should have fixed all of that first time, I hope the put it all right for you and replace the screen out of their pocket.

Also it looks like a load of filler/mud in the top edge rather than welded steel, they need to put that right too or you'll be back to square one in a few months.

A side question, what are those side mirrors you have fitted, they look nicer than standard ones, are they electric?

Hope you get everything fixed properly and quickly. (you could fly me out and I'll make it right first time ;) )

This is happening to mine, except much worse. It spread to the visable paint, but I stopped that so now I just worry about the stuff underneath.

Its sealable since I just got a new windshield a little while ago.

Im willing to bed its from careless window installers and their knives.

Cheers guys. I'm coping. It's just a bit tough making $10 an hour and staring down the gun of a $1000 or worse repair. I am thinking of getting legal advice though.

In answer to some q's, the car (unbeknownst to me) had had a roofchop. At some point in time, the roof was removed and replaced. When I bought the car, the rust wasn't obvious. I saw a seam on the body, thought nothing of it.

10mths later, the rust had bubbled up, so I had the pillars opened and checked out, and "repaired".

3mths after that, the bubbling came back so I went back to have it redone. I was supposedly clean and clear after that. Not so, as the pics show.

sha_zapple - the rust that is there shouldn't be. Even if the windscreen install was dodgy from the time I had it out, there's no way that kind of rust occurs within 5 months. The rust HAD to be obvious from the first time I had the pillars repaired, the windscreen would have been removed and the rust would show up.

That's my issue now - how the place I went to could just ignore something as extensive as that. I paid them $1500 cash to do the job right.

Now, someone's going to pay for failing to do the job properly.

It definitly happened before the 5 months, so probably sometime before you owned the vehicle.
