side lights stay on??

For some strange reason my side lights in my 96 sedan don't turn off. i put my mid lights on the other day, and when i parked, i turned them off. Then i went inside the store and i noticed the sidelights were still on?
Even with the key off they stayed on.

for now, the only fix i have come up with , was to remove the mid lights fuse located in the fuse box in the engine compartment.

This worked, but i don't have the mid lights anymore.

oh and the turn signals still work though.

Anyone have any suggestions on how i can fix this??

its the switch on top the steering wheel in front of your gauges?

if so, it sounds like the side markers are wired to that switch instead of directly to the turn signal.

oh that switch.... hmm i thought that was the emergency light switch.
i wonder whats the purpose of having that switch then, if it messes things up? lol

I'll try it tomorrow when there's daylight.
i'll let you know if it works.

It says "P" for park light. It's a convenience feature that if you leave the switch on it allows you to see the car in the dark in the parking lot. Not really that useful.

If you have bumped that switch, you just committed noob error 1. :)

i removed the dash bezel when installing
my fog light switch the other day. lol
