Custom Skid Plate??

ive been meaning to install a skid plate in my legacy though it costs bucks..a friend of mine has tools that can easily shape and cut metal but ive been seeing heavy plastic skid plates and they look a lot easier. has anyone ever done a custom skid plate or is it just a waste of time :?:

If you can drill holes and cut some spacers for bolts a lot of the subaru metal skidplates will work on your BE.

I modified a primitive racing WRX skidplate to fit mine, though you can order one from primitive and rallitek specifically for the BE for a little more $$$.

Oh yeah, I have a Baja Turbo plastic undertray I've been keeping as backup if you'd like to give that shot, it'll directly bolt on to our cars.

you can make your own if you can bend, drill, cut metal. find a big sheet of aluminum or product is the hard part

if you have none stock headers you can not fit a skid plate without mod.

you would just need to add some spacers on the front of the skidplate to allow more clearance...

okay cool im loving the feed back but quick question, would heat be a problem with a plastic skid plate or a skid plate in general?

unless you getting real close to the manifold. i wouldnt worry about it.

the plastic and rallitek skidplates aren't full skidplates, they still leave space in front of the steering rack.

Heat shouldn't really be an issue on your n/a engine. Now if you're turbocharged on the other hand, I've found I run ~5 degrees hotter in oil temp during stop and go traffic with the engine fully warm. On the highway there's enough airflow to allow the engine to run the same temps.
