my buddy has a 92 legacy 2.2
his redline is at 6750

my 95 2.2 redlines at like 6000

what is the difference between both ej22's?
why can't i?

anyone want to chime in?
thanks.

I think the 90-94's were OBD1 and your 95 is a OBD2. I could be wrong

Theres a better way of changing the redline than switching ECU's

well, if there's a better way, how about sharing it?
i just think it's kind of gay that between the two bodystyles, there's a 500 or more rpm drop in redline, considering it's the same engine.

Yeah his is OBDI and yours is OBD2.

Funny, I thought they had the same redline. You mean the rev limiter kicks in earlier on yours?

Find a piggyback chip that will override your factory rev limiter and set it a little higher...

Nope, not the same. There's a couple reasons, one of them being emissions control (OBDI vs OBDII).

I was also surprised (when talking to scottzg) that the redline on 1st gens is different, I always assumed it was 6000.

yeah, it sucks. and i would pull if i had a 6750 redline like him, because our cars are geared differently. he will shift at the same time as i do, and an extra 500rpm would help, plus, 6250 comes up too fast sometimes...

so, these are chipped ecu's? where do i get a chip?
sorry, i'm not used to ecu-based tuning...
my supra's pretty simple in that sense... no chips to be modified, just upgrade the turbo, bigger injectors and an S-AFC...

so.. anyone know?

obd1 and obd2 aside,
will the early ECU work or not? i had doubts that it would...

obd1 vs obd 2 aside? That's why it won't work...
