Hey, thanks in advance for any help that you are able to offer me.

So, I started noticing a clicking/rubbing sound when I make turns, either right or left, the sound is coming from the front drivers side wheel or so. The weird part is that it doesn't make the sound every time I turn, so I am wondering if it has something to do with the speed I am going or how hard the turn is. I've noticed that it mostly happens at speeds around 25mph or so.

Information: Car has 102,000 miles and no history of steering problems that I know of. I looked in the wheel well and checked for any indication of rubbing with the wheels turned all the way and noticed it was close but had about an inch from contact, on both front tires.

Basically, I am just curious if anyone else has had this problem with their Subie or another car and knows what causes this. If not, I will probably end up taking it to my mechanic.

Once again, thanks! Also let me know if you need anything clarified.

I just replaced mine, and holy crap does it make a difference. Acceleration, cruising, even shifting, is all smoother now that I have. (Shifting because it doesn't lurch so much disengaging and reengaging the clutch)

Hah, that would explain the slower acceleration and everything. I know this is a horrible question but can i get away with driving on it, or could end up breaking something else in the process?

From what I understand, it won't damage anything else directly, but it will gradually get worse, and eventually bind in you drive on it long enough.

You can drive on it, but get it changed out soon. You can buy reman or new axles - they are only about $100 per pair.
I recommend changing them both at the same time, or keeping one around just in case.
