2003+ Shifter rod in 99L

So, I find the shifter a little long in my Legacy, the other week, at the wreckers, there was a 2003+ Outback that was standard, I noticed that the shifter lever was a good inch+ shorter, will that fit in my 99 Legacy? I also took the Shifter boot and knob from it that is leather.

its shift pivot is wider, like the wrx's. I don't know if there's enough metal in your shift linkage to widen it to fit around the new shifter.

I have an extra 2.5RS lever that'll bolt directly into your car though, it's yours for like 15 bucks. It's about an inch shorter than the BD lever...
