Building my 2.5?

Ok, so I want to build my motor and am looking at different setups that I could use (1997 Legacy GT 2.5 liter). I would like to add better cams, forged pistons, or possibly a stroker kit. I am not interested in turbo. I would like an all motor car more...Does anyone have any suggestions on what I should do? Could I use STI internals because I have heard of people doing this before? Any help will be much appreciated!!!
