Anyone here good at painting camo?

I need someone who can lay down some flat camo kind of like this on my outback:

I wouldn't need it sprayed on real thick since I'd have it clear-coated afterwards. Anyone think they could do this for me for cheap? I'm not 100% sure on this, I'm just throwing out the idea to see if someone will even help me.

Why do you want to clear coat? One of the great things about going camo is the ability to touch up so easily. I imagine you could do some simple cardboard cut outs of different curves to block the paint and get the effect you want if no one comes through.

NOTE: I will do all the masking work, anyone who can help will just need to take down a little clear coat (I'll help) and spray down the pattern. I'll clear coat it.

Listen to my thoughts on this, though, before you just think about an outback with camoflage

Flat camo paint
Grille painted flat black
Four 3" round auxillary lights on the roof, housings painted flat black
Front nudge guard painted flat black, two 3" auxillary lights on guard with housings painted flat black
Simulated bead locks on stock wheels
Dual 4' whips mounted somewhere on the vehicle (I'm making a cool hidden stud mount system on the roof rack, finishing it up today after school)
MAYBE a lift kit sometime in the next year


BTW, the decision to go off road instead of on road came from my experience with a modded street car (the BMW). I never really realized how much I love ground clearance and AWD/4WD.

i have the skills to paint it, im a commercial/industrial painter by trade, and an artist as well.
im all the way down here in Portland though. i live in an apartment complex, so i dont have a spray booth. i could ask my employer to use their paint shop..

that first example pic of the outback sport is much better than the last with the bright green( :smt078 )
i could do it with cleaner and more sharp lines though

Agreed. I'm thinking of a camo more like this but with slightly more rounded black. I almost like a little bit of fade out around the edges of the patterns because it has the "home made" look

About what do you think it would cost me for you to do this? I might be down near spokane sometime in the future getting another motor swapped in so as long as I'm down there, I may as well just make the rest of the trip down.

my employer isn't down with me using anything of theirs for a side job.

so, looks like we need to find a place to paint it.

why not try and give it a shot yourself? it'd be much cheaper.
what color is it right now?

And clear coat + flat base coat = uneven paint finish. You'll have spots of high gloss with spots of flat, it'll look like your car has freckles. Go all gloss or go all matte.

camo is pretty simple dont overthink it if you want that military look put down a full coat on your car of the prime color i presume you'll go green than take brown and black spray cans and put a few blobs of each and you re done. just mask off glass and everything that doesnt need to be painted. thats how most military old trucks are done nowadays.
