....in ruby red pearl.

Yep, we have one, and it's a limited trim one. when I go to work tomorrow I'll take pics I promise.

It looks like a nissan from the front, and a lexus from the rear.

Single exhaust
no fog lights (even on the limitied! wtf!?)
the seats are comfortable as FUCK
the wood trim looks cheap as hell
the engine has 1 serpentine belt now, no more v belt setup
it has the 5EAT tranny in it
and all legacies, base or whatever will have sunroofs standard. which is weird as hell.

more details to come, and if you guys want to know anything feel free to ask I will try to find out!

pics tomorrow!

Yeah, we've all known what it looks like :smt078

Your information doesn't add up though. The 3.6L H6 came with the 5EAT and dual exhaust. The 2.5i Limited comes with CVT and single exhaust. I'm going to kindly guess it's a 2.5i, and you mistakenly took the CVT for the 5EAT :smt002

indeed I am incorrect, as i rethought what I just posted lol

I will say one thing, there's some weeeeiiiird shit under the hood.

there's a mount at the front of the engine now, and the trans mounts are at the sides of the tranny almost near where it bolts to the engine, and they are HUGE.

however, there is a bit more room in the engine bay, and it almost looks like you can do the t-belt without removing the fans.

Im not holding my breath on that one though lol

I'm wicked sorry guys, but the owner's wife is using the fricken thing as a demo :(

If you get a Legacy with the manual, it'll have a 6 speed manual regardless of turbo or NA. I also read that they are using cable shift, instead of a metal shift linkage. Huge letdown there. Super long throw shifter. The 6MT is akin to the 6MT they put into the Turbo Diesel in EU-ville, it's a standard 5 speed that has an additional gear added, and 'slight strengthening'. How strong it will really be is anyone's guess.

And Subaru will be offering a 'short shifter kit', which includes cables. What a PITA. The failboat has arrived. :(

RedEvilWgn

It was bound to hit the legacy (the failboat). First they came out with the Tirbeca, which is a pile of shit, then they ruined the impreza/wrx/STi.

ugh at least they improved the forester.

You're not missing out if anyone hasn't seen pics. It really is plain. I'm still gonna try one out, but the chances of me buying this generation Legacy are pretty slim.

I test drove an 09 Volvo S40 R-design AWD and that car was awesome. I'm in love. But, the only thing lacking is a 6spd. :-?

ugh sorry man, but I haven't met a tech yet who thinks anything positive of the Tribunker. They have poor rear visibility, they're overweight, and the third row seating is a joke. nevermind how ugly they are.

I just wish I had the huge brakes off of one.

The impreza looks like a camry and focus had a drunken mishap, and no one will admit to it. they are boring as hell, and they drive like shit too.

BUT!!!

To each there own, because if some people didn't like em enough to buy em, I wouldnt have a job fixing them ;)

:smt017 I got a feeling the Lego theory will be tested here (w/ some modding of course) and someone will try an earlier Phase 1 GT intake piping.

Honestly, It'll take some getting used to and someone modding 1 for anyone to see the potential it has.

Not my thing, But a set of 19's and a lowered stance will round out the "look" as the GT version (as always  ) will probably see some mild exhaust upgrades available a.s.a.p. too, and then the rest; sways/e-management/ Turbos/ intakes other body mods etc...

Time will tell, but for now it looks like time is still going forward for Subaru.

Okin DaVanh

And the newer generation of Legacy owners probably wouldn't buy anything less than an '05.

Either way, I'm gonna wait a little while before passing judgment. I do agree with a lot of the new cars looking similar.

The new Accord, Camry, Legacy and some of the German makes (Jetta) almost all look alike. Times are changing, and so aren't design trends and regulations.

Looks is 1 thing, but how does it perform? In real world situations I mean.

the GTs will come turbo and in 6 speed only.

now dont get your hopes up, because it isnt the STi 6 speed, its quite literally the regular 5 speed with an extra gear squeezed in somehow.

RedEvilWgn

funny you should mention that, as the 2010 foresters now also have the "symmetrical AWD" badging as well.

We dont have any 2010 Tribunkers yet, nor any 2010 imprezas yet, so I'm unsure whether theyre getting the stupid badge treatment too.

I wonder if having the wording "symmetrical AWD" costs more then just having AWD when they make it..

I just looked at the pricing for the first time today. The GT has always turned me off since it was near $30k and there's no wagon, but prices on the H6 version have been diving since 2008.

List $24995, $695 destination, $25690 total for a 2010 Legacy with the 3.6L H6 and the 5EAT VTD w/ limited-slip rear.

And it makes 256 hp on regular gas. That's a good deal! Now that's a Legacy I just might take over a Forester.

I saw both the 2010 Legacy and 2010 Outback in person at the New York International Auto show. Sat in the Legacy, felt nice... too nice. Like a luxury car. I do consider the Legacy slightly upscale but not that much. I'm disappointed with where Subaru has been heading, first the Impreza and now the Legacy. My mother has the new style Impreza, and while it is nice because it is new, it is rather bland and almost boring.

and before someone goes on the "oh you're a dealer tech, you're just as bad as a salesman" save it. I only recommend things a car needs, and I only fix that which is broken. nothing more.

yes there alot of dishonest techs, but I AM NOT one of them. I pride myself on that. I fix cars because it's my passion, not for the money. if i wanted to do something for the money I wouldve finished pursuing my english/psychology degree.

You guys don't get out much do ya? A lot of the discussion has been out and about for quite some time.

The big engine mounts are because there is a new subframe to reduce engine vibration. There is also a new rear subframe too. Aparently the "overlords" want the soobys to be as smooth as toyotas. SUbarus havent had V-belts in quite some time, they have had flat belts.

The CVT tranny I will wait untill someone logs over 100K on one. They have come a long way, but seeing how a sooby 4eat can last well over 300K with proper maint, i am not too sure if a CVT can do this.

The electronic parking brake is where alot of them are going. It is nothing new, but it sucks.

I like the looks of the legacy's, but that pic of a wagon is godawful.

Can one of the other posters look into the owners manual, and see if there is a real-time method to monitor the engine temp on the central info panel (or whatever they call it).

The new outback no longer looks like a wagon. It looks to much like a crossover that came late to the party. I know it is larger on the insdie, smaller on the outside, and lower in cost, but now it looks like so many other cars on the road.

PS Asutrailia and Japan are getting this outback, but it is going to be "thinner" for thier market.

I'll need to see one in person before passing judgement and even then my impression changes with time.

It looks like they have a plastic ABS type intake manifold. Was that on previous years?

Nipper - I was thinking the bigger motor/trans mounts was to reduce noise. I remember you mentioning it on subaruoutback.org that there was requirements to reduce interior noise. I believe it was while mention the Saabaru.

Will the H6 have the CVT tranny? I'm kinda skeptic on those transmissions although I see their value for gas mileage. I just wouldn't want to tow my little trailer with one.

Also, I see the H6 having similar power to the GT, but runs on regular gas. Too bad it doesn't come in a manual transmission, but not needing super unleaded will make the car sell better than the GT, IMO.

Yes they went to the toyota theory of engine vibration, that you should forget you even have one under the hood. CVT has been around in enough cars to prove the concept works, and they are starting to hit the 100K mark, but those are not chain driven like subarus. At leats the paddles work anytime, you dont have to have the car in sport mode to use them.

cvt's have been around for a while, its just that it's only been now that the engineering and materials development has progressed to allow them to handle high hp applications for long periods of time w/o any serious maintenance.

I still have to see one in person I suppose, but from the pictures, I still say that the back end looks just like a GS Lexus. It's not necessarily a bad thing, but they could have been more creative. eugh..... why subaru... i mean, why not just come back out with another baja? at least they were interesting. but no, instead they redesign all the cars pretty much. i get the idea that they are trying to compete against toyota and nissan and volvo n such.... even volks. but damn is that a boring car. smooth as hell (drove one yesterday) but i felt like i was being read a bed time story. and when i "woke up" and got out of the car, i woke up outside of a car thats as boring as my taxes. i believe someone mentioned the STI being a drunken child accident between a focus and a new camry with the body design. Truth.

idk, electronic E-Brake, CVT, body styling. i thought i had a boring car... but damn haha. thats all i gotta say about that. im stickin to my 95 BD till the wheels fall off. and then maybe buying an 06 impreza haha

Because boring looking cars sell.. and more sells for Subaru means more tech in R&D

ha really look at the 1999-2000 eclipse re-design and the pontiac grand am, ford torus, toyota camry, and who wouldn't spend and extra 4 grand and get a cobalt SS over the stock well 90% of the sales are on the BORING lesser moddles and there thinking about killing the SS all .92g's on the skid pad and 0-60 in 5.5s of it

But yea I seriously hate all the electronic smooth quiet car shit every things going to that now they even watered down the STI I mean the only people that buy those are expecting a loud engine and to get smashed over potholes and are willing to trade that to get track performance and handling or they would have just got a WRX or Legacy now the WRX and STI are basically the same after you stick 245's and an intake on a WRX (27 more hp for 150 bucks anyone)

Quiet=heavier=bad
Smooth...usually=less efficient and less out put per liter which means heavier
Electronic shit(E-brake, Steering, brakes, doors)=less feed back, more weight (usually), less driver interaction basicaly for lazy asses... just stick with doors and locks... and seats if ur fat and can't reach to adjust them.

I WANA DRIVE MY CAR NOT FALL ASLEEP IN IT LIKE A LAZY BOY thats what lazy boys and tv's are for

I think subaru is making a mistake and going to have problems the last time they tried to go up against toyota, honda and nissan directly in the late 80's early 90's by making FWD cars it was a total flop and they didn't regain sales till they went back to Standard AWD in 96 and made the 2nd gen legacy and the whatever gen imprezas and the 2.5 RS...
