View Full Version : burnt rubber smell O.K, now Squeaky mystery

yep, as the title states, im trying to figure out what this smell is coming from, i know its in the engine bay but i cant figure out what exactly it is from. My guess is the new timing belt getting worn in along with the fact that the belt covers are off, but it does have me still concerned. lemme know if anyone has any ideas

Check to see if you have anything leaning against the block.... Also check your headers. It might also be your engine burning all the stuff from sitting, away. :smt102

When your engine went bye bye, did it leak oil all over the headers?

I had the same problem and I narrowed it down to my cam seals leaking oil onto the lower rad hose and that would cause it to smell.. yuck

found it, was a leaking trans fluid hose that ran to the radiator, didnt tighten the connection completely, but i do have another issue that i didnt mention, I'll change the title afterwards

I'm gonna add some PS fluid to see if it helps but im getting a squeaking noise from the passenger front tire region, I just took a quick look today and it seems like everything is tightly together and in good order but I still get the squeak, its worse when im taking a left turn though so I am starting to wonder if it might be the cv axle somehow, gonna look again when i get the chance to.

In diagnostics.. always start with the cheapest solution first.. that would have to be a bushing! Over time they dry out and will most definitely cause a squeak.. I would check those first :smt023
