lowered 3.0R

Would it be dumb to get a 3.0R outback SUS 01-04 and lower it to like the highth of a legacy GT with H&R's?

I'm thinking it would be the cheapest way to get more power out of the 2.5l lol and cheaper than a 3.0 swap into a GT

But do the 3.0's still have a boxer rumble? probably not being a 6 cylinder right? I mean its going to sound different than a V6 but not really a "bower rumble"

most of the "boxer rumble" sound is made by the unequal length headers, so it can still rumble if you want it too, it still wont be the same sound as our 4s though

But there still called the outback 3.0R arnt they? and a 5spd would be nice but they do have sport shift. I like the way the SUS's look, more like a rally car but I would lower it for handlings sake

No. The 'R' only comes from the EZ30R, which was introduced in 2005. The 01-04 Outbacks (such as Dodik's) are just called the 'H6 3.0'.

and if you want more power its a good car but it is the MOST COMFORTABLE NOT SPORTY subaru i've driven, and geo metro has more aftermarket support than H6 outbacks, so if you want to be able to keep up with most people and never rev your car higher than 2500rpm then go for it but if you want to mod it there is not much you can do, there more options on lifting them then lowering right now, its not as simple as most people think, for example my H6 came stock with 48 offset while legacies had 53 or 55 same year, where is the difference coming from i have no idea, if you put legacy specific lowering springs it will drop you way too low and mots likely you will rub as tires are completely different size, i just got a set of used GR-2 from a legacy gonna measure them and see if they are different from outback. this car is for everyday driving not modding, and if you want more of a racer car his is not your answer, but if you want a grown up suby with all the creature comforts you may want, then yeah go for it.

I though it was just a jacked up legacy? so the standard BE GT suspention components wont fit on the outback sedan?

well I could get the 3.0R in the standard BL but they didnt make it till 08 and then I would rather save and get a 05 or 06 BL GT it has 2 less HP but more TQ and a lower rpm plus its turbo so you could easily get that 2 HP back

BE/BH suspension components WILL bolt up, but what Dodik is saying is that on a stock Outback H6, lowering it would more than likely cause rubbing since Outbacks come with a much larger tire size than the Legacy.

@ Dodik - I think the reason Outbacks come with a lower offset wheel is the design of the 'lifted' suspension putting less stress on the hubs. Don't quote me on that though, it's just a theory.

usualy the reason people get bigger V6's over 4cyl is more low-down tq and generaly more power at lower RPM and with less noise but the EZ30R makes 245hp and like 215tq at 4,200 RPM and the Legacy GT with the 2.5 turbo makes 243HP and 241tq at 3,600 RPM alot more tq and at a few lower revs.

and what I was saying is with the 3.0 you can do an exhaust and cams and thats about it for bolt ons with the 2.5 you can do intake and exhaust and get that 2hp back over the 3.0 plus theres up-pipe, down-pipe and I would do an cobb AP you can do basicaly anything you can do to the sti. more aftermarket support
