BE with a P0130 code

Ok so the story begins with the check engine light on. The original codes were for Cat inefficiency and a Air valve code. So i cleaned the the valve and the hoses. The spark plug tubes were full of oil so i replaced the gaskets and plugs and cleaned everything out. cleared the faults and drives great now. so its 3 days later and all of a sudden the check engine light is back on now. Code P0130. So i replace the front O2 sensor and erase the code and not even a mile down the road the code comes back. Wires and everything look good. All vacuum lines look ok. I cant think of anything else that would cause this fault to come back. All help is greatly appreciated. Thanks

Rear O2 sensor is probably bad as well.

I am having the same exact problem with my '97 LGT. I have replaced the front O2 sensor, plugs, wires, knock sensor, and MAF sensor. After all of that the PO130 code will not go away. It says I have a cylinder One misfire...I took my car to a Subaru specialist and he said the car was running lean. Only thing I can figure that is causing mine is the cheap MAF sensor I put on the car. So now I have to spend another $330 dollars to get ANOTHER MAF sensor :smt013 When you sit at a stop light can you feel the car misfiring? Does the car hesitate when you accelerate?

no the car runs beautiful. it drives great but my clutch is slipping horribly lol. idk what it could be. i sure as hell dont want to pony up the money to take it to subaru. i tried everything besides new wires. i've clened everything out. even connectors. i cant figure this thing out.

Yeah I have taken it to a Subaru dealer TWICE, but it has yielded no results! Finally, I took it to a tuning shop and he saw I had bad thermostat and he replaced that, but again after 100 miles of driving the code came back? I have been dealing with this for about four months and I can't figure it out. My car will actually misfire though I can feel it through the shifter at a stoplight. I am going to take it back to the shop again this week after I am done with the spring semester and see what happens. I will let you know what I find out and maby it could possibly point you in the right direction. I would say pull your plugs and look at the top of them to see if your car is running lean or not (top of plugs will be white colored).

yeah i'll try. it sucks that i just fixed evrything too and then this code came out of no where. i'm gonna try and see if a rear O2 sensor will do it. i hate to throw parts at it but its what its come down to i guess. there is no electrical shorts that i've tested and al lvacuum hoses look fine. i guess we'l have a race to the problem lol

Does your check engine light stay on all the time or does it only come on occasion? Also does it seem to be weather related? For instance on colder days my car will not throe the code and it didn't all winter...

well it was on all winter and i finally got around to fix it. i cant drive more than a mile down the road before the code comes back. so i dont really know if its weather related.

Actually I was before then I replaced with NGK iridium...

no not at all. ngk's came out and new ngk's went back in.

all rights did you guys checked the gaps before putting them in, they are suppose to be gapped by manufacturer but i always check just to be sure, sometimes you get a plug thats way off.

yep all my gaps were good to go. my car is appart for my clutch right now so we'll see once everything is back together. I have both o2 sensors replaced so we'll see if that does the trick

Hey, I don't know if your still having your problem with your P0130 code, but I figured out the issue with mine... My car was running lean so it was not getting enough fuel. I had a bad fuel pump and that was causing my car to misfire.

thanks man. when i get may car all back together i'll see if my light is back on and if it is i'll go after th efuel pump.
