A question on the Legacy postal

Why did they stop making them?

They found a vehicle that works better for postal deliveries. Think about it. Would you drive a Yukon for garbage disposal if a proper garbage truck was built?

I thought they were just for smaller towns and I thought maybe it had to do with funding for getting the larger mail truck.

A lot of small towns still use them. The town I live in right now has two 1991-1994 Legacies in addition to some normal mail trucks. The town my exgf lived in was small enough that the "mail lady" had her own RHD 1995-1999 RHD postal wagon. They are still around.

I work at a local family owned sporting goods store and I saw one yesterday making deliveries to the store. RHD drive wagon in the 95-99 range. I talked to the guy for a second and he said it was the best mail vehicle he has ever had! Then he said, "...it's even got a cool horn!" and proceeded to beep the typical subaru horn. It was pretty funny!

somewhere around here there a RHD BH legacy delieving mail, a RHD jeep. from what i heard from the lady that drive the jeep, you can import EURO spec cars, if your working for the post office delivering mail, but you need to purchase them 100% and there only legal as long as you own your federal licence

Right here in CT, my parents' mail lady has her own 94 RHD and a 96 RHD. I believe the 94 has well over 200k miles on it. Both in pretty good shape, seeing they've been used 5 days a week probably since they were purchased.

With the grants just about all post offices got years ago, the USPS purchased their own mail delivery trucks, so there was not really a need for them anymore, sadly enough.

OT, but this reminds me, I didn't know Jeep made a RHD wrangler...saw one for sale the other day. Thought that was strange.

Both of the mail people in my town have a RHD wrangler, the one is normal and other is a extended or the four door one.

also near me is a 97 RHD legacy for sale.

the lady that use to deliver my mail drove one for years. it was so beat up that the hood was held down with bungie cords. now see drives a RHD jeep xj.
