Got a 95-99 Outback w/ a factory roof rack? I need a favor!

Hello! I am getting a cargo basket for my Outback but unfortunately my car is 700 miles away from me and will be until August. I was wondering if someone with an Outback would be so kind as to measure the distance between the drivers side and passengers side risers, the distance from the front of the rack to the back of the rack, and the width of one of the crossbars that goes from side to side. By width I mean from the front of the crossbar to the back, its only about 3 inches or so, but I'd like to know exactly if possible. It would help me greatly! Thank you!

I assume the factory roof rack on my Legacy wagon is the same.

Driver's Side to Passenger Side Risers: 34.5" (inside to inside)
Front Crossbar to Rear Crossbar: 29.5" (including the crossbar width)
Crossbar width: Almost bang on with 3", 3 1/8" if you want to be more exact.

Thanks Jey! Thats smaller than I was thinking it was gonna be. The cargo box I want to buy is 48" x 37-1/2" x 4"
I'm wondering if it will be too big. I'd be very sad if so, this thing is cheap and would be rugged as heck for me to carry stuff around in.

I think it would work, it looks very adjustable. It would only hang over the side rails by just a tad if at all, and you can position it to hang over the front crossbar more than the rear (you wouldn't want to block the ability to open the rear hatch) but that'll be fine since that front crossbar is way back behind the B pillar anyway so it'll look pretty centered on top of your wagon.

Interesting - I've seen those baskets before but never thought much about them because I guess I my cargo needs have never been THAT extreme :)

Well, as you know I use the car for DD duty at school. I usually strap my bike to the roof but that caused a lot of deep scratches. Now that the whole car is freshly painted, this basket would allow me to not only carry my bike but any number of other things for camping trips or whatever with minimal damage to the roof. Plus it would look rugged as heck. I think you're right, it will work, it will just be obnoxiously huge which I am totally ok with!

If you look on subaruoutback.org there's quite a few people that have that rola basket and it looks to fit perfectly. Search the forums over there for some pictures. I was actually thinking of getting that basket, but now I'm thinking if going with a the smaller yakima basket because I don't really need that big of a rack.

You know the front-to-back position of the crossbars is adjustable right? My Outback came with a hex key just for that purpose and some instructions.

Yes I am aware of the adjustability. After looking on subaruoutback.org I think the basket, even though its freakin' huge, will work well for me. Thanks for all the replies and special thanks to Jey for measuring his roof rack out in the summer heat.
