Debating, should I keep this roof rack. Car changes it's looks from an aggressive look to a sleek look without it. The roof rack does cause issues with my aftermarket sunroof as it creates a low pressure behind the fairing. That cause the sunroof to lift and whistle above 80mph (or in strong winds)
I'm thinking about selling it and maybe later down the road getting a whispbar system as they are insanely quiet without a fairing whereas most others need a fairing to be quiet.
In other news. Got the H6 brackets. Painted too.

If you end up getting rid of the roof rack, let me know. I might drive up again, depending on when and all. I say keep it, though...then again, if it's causing the sunroof to whistle, that would annoy the crap outta me.

Sorry...Sold it to someone local (guy I got my WRX suspension off of).
Update on my car...
Well,
-No more roof rack
-Royal Purple oil change with Napa Gold filter
-Simple Green'd the engine bay
-Ordered a Green Air Filter
-H6 brake upgrade is just rotors away (need more money)

Having a issue with the new rims. Having a vibration in the steering wheel from speed at 40 to 70.
-Wheels have been balanced (by an untrusted source but I didn't pay)
-I have rotated the wheels front to back and the issue remains
-Tire are Yoko Avid W4S (made in late 08 but look nice, have 6/32nds left)
-Rims don't look to be bent in any way. I ran my hand along the inside to feel for a change in surface and found now.
nikolaus.conrad
06-06-2012, 10:11 AM
Mine started to vibrate out of nowhere also, weird.
geckoboy86
06-06-2012, 11:52 AM
Looking either like multiple bent rims or a tire issue. Anyone want to add anything?
redlegacygt
06-06-2012, 01:14 PM
I know that i've had to have the wheel weights in my lgt's or else there was a light vibration. One had fallen off some how and it caused a small but noticeable shake.

Has to be a bent rim unless all your tires are bad... the rotation of the tires would have shown you if it was a tire, just take them in and get a real balance.
Navi271
06-06-2012, 02:59 PM
All the bent wheels I've had are pretty curb rashed, it looks like they hit the curb hard enough to possibly bend the wheel. I had a problem with one set of wheels, that were not bent, where I could never get the balanced correctly. It could have been the place I was taking them to. I also though it could be the tires. I had low pro Falken's, very stiff sidewalls, and the tread wore a little funny. I feel like that could have made my wheels vibrate a bit.
You can try getting a high speed balancing too. More expensive tho.
geckoboy86
06-06-2012, 08:53 PM
Mine have some rash but not much.

06-06-2012, 10:19 PM
Do you think your car is out of alignment?
geckoboy86
06-07-2012, 08:47 AM
I know it is out of allignment. The issue is that is only does it with the new 17s but not my old 16s.
redlegacygt
06-07-2012, 10:06 AM
then this may sound silly, is it because the extra weight of those 17's that now it being out of alignment is more noticeable?
geckoboy86
06-07-2012, 10:22 AM
Actually...my 2008 2.5i rims weigh in at the same as these LGTs.
20.5 lbs.
A few people told me it might be in the tire. They might have a different geometry from the suspension of the 2005 Legacy. Or maybe just a bad belt or something.
I kinda think it might be from being a used tire from the 2005, because why would it remain even if wheels were rotated.
When you got yours, did you get new tires or did they come with a used tire?

I used Dupli-Color's HWP105 Bronze. Ordered it from http://www.tcpglobal.com/spraypaintdepot/DC-wheel.aspx
I love the bronze, works well on lighter colored cars. Isn't overplayed like gold wheels and draws less attention. We can let the Impreza's have their gold.

Well...Got a new job (full time at a tech store vs old part-time arcade) and I'm moving in with a friend and splitting the rent. If money looks right, I might get a newer car. I'll probably give my legacy to my dad (in a close to stock form).

I have to determine now if I want to keep high beam on with low beam or do I want to sperate them.
What do you mean, they are designed, and run from factory with the low staying on while the highbeam is on... Turning the low beam off will mean you have less light than subaru intended when you have your highs on! Projector headlights are all about getting a feckload of light out on the road!!! US models dont leave both lights on. Well, not when you put JDM headlight on them. Its in the wiring.

Plus it being the first time on certain roads where I moved to equaled be bouncing off a curb (twice, First hit had a small bounce back off for a second hit) at low speeds but still hard enough. Well. This time its more serious. This might be the end. It's a shame too, I love this car. Its been very good to me for about 60,000 miles. Engine is fine, Tranny is so so, body is a losing battle to rust. Its fate is unknown. It might be traded in depending on what I am offered, it might goto Chad or my dad, or it might just get parted out.
I found a 04 Forester XT. One owner with high miles. In the pictures it looks great. So far I've gotten my co signer selected, have a rough figure of the payments, only thing left is insurance and that should be done tomorrow.

Well. I knew it would have problem and it had a few. Consulted a Subaru Tech I know and he says avoid. So I will. This does let me know that I can pull this off. I think I'm gonna continue my search for an XT. I really did like being boosted.

Any reason in particular? Possibly something that can be used as a bargaining chip?

You'll have to test drive the Silver XT in Hanover. It was nice other then the scuff marks on the front bumper and a dent on the fender.

Sweet! Auto or stick?
You going to part the URV or sell it as-is?

I've benn considering borrowing your URV designation, cause it fits what I have targeted for my project! I have told many people in my moto circle of friends and forums, "If you want to prctice for running the Dakar Rallye Raid or the Mexican 1000, come to Oakland for 2 months. Our good roads aspire to be poor Mexican dirt roads when they grow up!"

3.0R or 2.5XT?
Found a 3.0R Outback Sedan within my price.

3.0R won't have turbo lag. But it won't have the availability of tuning parts.

I will miss the tuning but no care about the lack of aftermarket parts. I haven't had time. That can be seen even by this members ride page. I kinda dropped off the face of the earth.

Final time it'll be in the garage.
So, what's the plan for it?

It's having a mini-partout and then will either be sold or given to a family member.

Just drove this car for the first time since July 2nd.
God do I miss it and its rumble. It's EJ22e feels like it could beat an EJ252 (the one in my mother boyfriends forester).

Well... She got traded in by my mother. My mother now owns my Outbacks twin.
Its not quite a twin but its close. Mine is 2006 OBP Outback Sedan LL Bean 3.0R with Nav. Hers is a 2006 OBP Outback Sedan 2.5i Limited. She has black interior and I have tan. She has a wingless trunk that I will be stealing.

I feel like a little piece of me has died though with my old car being gone.
You gonna steal her interior, too?

For your turn signal bulb what kind did you use? I like that reflective bulb color. I plan to do my retrofit in my 01 headlight fixture soon and I cant find those style signal bulbs for the life of me! Looks clean on your legacy.
