So I have a 1998 legacy GT and I have been looking for a newer car or a leggacy in better condition with a 5speed. The other day I drove my friends 1998 Audi A4 2.8 quatro that he got for 3 grand. Its a 5speed and its got a short ram and a magnaflow muffler. and I loved it, the shifter was so fast it was like a joystick not something with a linkage at the other end that actually switches gears and it has a ton of tq it will go from 1500 rpm all the way to 65mph at red line in 2nd just fine, it has a pretty sporty suspention and i really liked it....sooo I starded looking and audi S4's from 2000-2002, they are even faster and have a sportier suspention. I could get on for under 10 grand (im having a hard time finding an 04-05 wrx or 05 legacy gt for that)

but then I found this and loled http://www.caranddriver.com/reviews/com ... rison_test (http://www.caranddriver.com/reviews/comparison_test/sedans/bmw_330xi_vs_subaru_impreza_wrx_audi_s4_comparison_test)

+1 FOR SUBARU

That's pretty cool, the review makes the WRX sound pretty impresive. It has the lightest weight, fastest 0-60, and the fastest 1/4. Nice!

I'll sell you my car. I'd never want an audi.. cant even begin to imagine how much work on one of them costs.

If you're good at wheeling and dealing you can get an 04 wrx for 10k. Nothing wrong with the 02 or 03 either, still a much lighter car than the Audi and the S4 "only" had a V6 those years anyway. And reliability is going to be worse than a WRX, guaranteed.

My turbo'ed Skankwagon does this, develops more torque and has a "sporty suspension" for a total investment of under 4k. I win!

Why would you want German headaches.. Audi = VW.. VW = expensive parts & ridiculous methods of removal/repair.. Time consuming and Fund consuming.

Japanese = Efficient and affordable

But I wouldn't mind a 01' S4 or a 89' Quattro 20v :smile:

I wanted a car with more than 227hp but after reading that I'm thinking a wrx would be pretty sweet and I'm sure if you stuck 04 STi rims with 225's on the wrx it would clean up in the skid pad and lane changes, plus a cat-back and the rex would need to be put in a different comparo. (I think its funny when they put the S4 up with the STI and EVO when its no match)

Also the 04's red momo is my favorite wheel but I like the 05's interior it just looks like it cost a little more to make.

Well I think the 00-02 S4's are the best the V8 ones suck gas and weight like another 200LBS MORE. Plus there not turbo.

what sucks is that a 04-05 dodge SRT4 will out do the wrx and S4 on dry roads :(

then it goes on wet and snowy roads and spins out, then at 70,000miles the transmission goes out.. lol at least that's what i've heard

i still think subaru is the way to go even tho it may be a bit more expensive you get the quality too.
and seriously, the wrx is too noisy? :smt005

Too noisy is the part that made me laugh! I'd buy the subaru just for the noise it makes!
