Hi, I'm Josh and I recently got and old '95 Legacy L (sedan). Cost me only 1100 bucks, though it does need a bit of work.
I'm just waiting for the transmission to go bye bye. As far as i know, the previous owner had not gotten much of anything replaced (aside from normal preventative maintenance) and it is still running at 236,000 miles.
Anyway, I'm glad to see that there's a site with knowledgable people who will help me to get going in the right direction with this car - especially those seemingly few owners of 95 models. Anyway, I'll be here for a while.
...I guess that's it?

Welcome to the site. I too got a good deal on a '95 and I've realized that it wasn't as good as I once thought. Hopefully your experience will be a bit better.

still going at 236,000? Awesome :D
I've got 174k on mine, runs like a champ :)
Welcome to the site! There are a lot of 95 owners here now (barely any when I joined) but you belong to the most common generation of Subarus on this forum (95-99) and have one of the best motors made by subaru (EJ22) :)

yeah, all i'm hearing from people about the engine is good things. I mean, if it's runing at 236k, it has to be I guess. So when sites say something for a 96-99 it would most likely work with the 95? It just seems like everything is either before '95 or after from a lot of things i read online.

95 was kind of a bastard year.
The second gen includes the 95. Most places are ignorant to the fact that the 95 Legacy WAS OBD2, and NOT OBD1. That's likely where they get confused because Impreza's weren't OBD2 until 96.
If you have a question about something that might or might not work, just ask. We will probably know.
I had a 95 Legacy L. That thing was a P.I.M.P. I loved that thing. Too bad it was FWD and an automatic. But it was a champ, and I DID love the thing.

Well, the 95 had some similar things to the 1st generation Legacies.
Same tranny as the 93-94 models
(I can't think of anything else, but I know there are other things)
But the differences were
styling (of course)
engine components (alternator, power steering, A/C)
OBDII (which changes wiring, ECU, sensors,)
Exhaust
etc
