Crap now what?!? Foglight mounting JDM single lens fogs

So I picked up my fogs and I followed the DIY thread for the JDM fogs for the BD.. but here is where my issue seems to be.. I had no factory fogs so I went to pull the liner back and I see no possible way for the bracket that holds the fog to mount!

*edit is that my bumper beam in white? I thought it's metal... that's the only thing I can think of that can hold the fog light.. I'd need to drill

The bumper beam should be black.. its what the bumper is attached to. You can technically pull the whole bumper out by removing 4 bolts in the engine bay. You will need to pull the bumper out to mount the JDM fogs anyways..or at least you have to with the JDM bumper beam / bumper (or at least i've always had to).

On the bumper beam, there should be some bolt holes.. up near the top of where the fog lights sit.. somewhere around there. You must be looking at something else if you are seeing white. Better pictures may help us help you.

well right now I can't get those press screws out on the top part of the bumper after removing the headlights.. they are in solid...

I can get better pictures but I can only move the camera back so far.. other option is to put the car on a ramp

THis has to be the mounting hole.. I see nothing else..

Its the black part.. behind the white part. Also.. i wouldnt even try to take out those screws that attach the bumper to the beam.. you will just break them all. Remove the bumper beam / bumper from the car via the 4 17mm bolts in the engine bay... much MUCH easier.

Also.. weird.. i don't see the mounting bracket.. hmm. should be 2 little tabs that you can screw the USDM fogs into.

I'm confused you say don't remove the screws but then you say remove the bumper beam.. Why would I need to remove the bumper beam?

I took the bumper skin off as seen in the picture however I see nothing as far as anything that looks like it holds a screw in the metal beam.

The white foam bit just drops off - you shouldn't need to pull the whole beam out. The bolts for the GT fog brackets are two bolt holes, about 5" apart. Your beam might not be drilled for that.

the hard white part behind the foam right? I just want to make sure I drilled into the right thing.. however following the DIY on the JDM fogs for the BD my screws are not long enough So I see if I can find some longer 5/16" screws.

Best thing to do is put the cover back on, put the fog bracket up on the bumper and mark your drill holes. If it's the same bumper cover in your avatar you could mount the fogs in the center section but offset to the side.

that's what i used, curious as to why you have 2 separate places to bolt on to tho, mine only had 2 holes only halfway drilled out. i put on the fogs earlier this summer. i looked at mine and i honestly can't tell which holes you should use, always test fit i guess. I've had no problems mounting the fogs to that.
You can take off the fiberglass like thing by taking off the bolt highlighted and 3 others like it. once that's off you can mount the fogs on/drill out holes/whatever easily. there's no black bumper beam behind it like i thought either, what you see is what you got, so YES that IS the awesome USDM zenki bumper beam.. :neutral:

well the fogs are on just need to put the bumper cover on... I had to shave it some so I could fit the nut on.. just using the left over PIAA harness for the fogs until my fog switch and a harness for a 95 Legacy arrives

I told you not to pull the bumper skin off.. because its just much easier to pull the whole beam / bumper out. No stupid little plastic screws to break or wear out. Plus.. yes.. you could line your fogs up if necessary and drill the proper spots with the skin attached to the beam. Weird yours isnt drilled for the fogs.. maybe someone on here has a USDM or JDM beam you could use. I actually had both last week.. but they are both sold.

Thanks whoever moved it.

I ended up drilling the holes myself since they were not drilled at all it was a pain in the ass as well.. Subaru must of used smaller bolts because I used 5/16" 2" bolts and it's a tight fit to get the nut bolted down.. They held on a 600 mile trip so that was good.


And it passed the potholes in NY too :D I was puzzled because everyone was telling me to look for brackets when I never saw any..
