Anyone know where the vin is on 2.5 and on trans?

Have a 03 BE that I rebuilt, dropped off paperwork/money to police and was informed the vin on the trans and on the engine must be clean as in free of dirt/oil or they will fail me....so I was going to clean them off if I could find them, tried searching to no avail.

thats bizarre.....hmm, anywho when looking at the engine bay from the front of the car, the VIN for the engine will be on the top of the block to the right of where the trans and motor mate up. As for the trans, im not too sure but I believe you can see if from the passenger side, down where the wiring goes for the o2 sensors, but again im not sure about that.

Ok found the one on engine....no luck on trans though its a AT btw.....Its a salvage title car thats why the inspection is needed to get a rebuilt title.

didnt know that subaru stamped the vin on the motor

not actually the vin but there is a S/N

trans s/n is on the top of the bellhousing, driver's side.

motors have vins on the right side of the bellhousing, transmissions do not have vins staped on only s/n
