View Full Version : Exedy Clutch HELP!!!

OK so lets start with I have a 2002 Legacy GT. I just installed a exedy oem replacement clutch and racing flywheel. So i get the transmission back in and the clutch fork is loose. I installed clutch kit part #KSB04. So I look it up at exedy and they show that the clutch kit will fit the base but they dont show my year for the GT. Heres the Link.....

So I'm gonna have to take the trans back out now but am I gonna have to use a different pressure plate? Has anyone ever run into this problem?

The clutch you got is the correct one, all Subarus with the 2.5 liter non-turbo motor use the same clutch, even though the engine may be a little different, the transmission they use is all the same. Seems like you didn't install something correctly. You should check to see if there is a problem with the throwout bearing, when you say it's loose was that installed and you jiggled it a bit or was this from the clutch pedal?

before i pulled the tranny out the clutch fork barely had any play to in. now with it back in its loose as hell. i went in to see if maybe the clutch slave cylinder would just compensate for it but no luck. clutch pedal went straight to the floor. something has to be up. i'm at a loss here

So at the fork you can wiggle it a lot back and forth? up and down? what? I wonder if your master and slave cylinders have air in the system and need a bleed? Anyways if it really is your fork you need to take your tranny off and see if your fork is broken or not installed properly.

i can wiggle it front to back. its weird i've never had this much trouble with a clutch. i'm gonna go start to pull it back out and see what it is

ok so i got the transmission pulled back a little. so i installed the input shaft repair kit on there with their throw out bearing and the spring from the throw out bearing looks like its pushing the fork up a little causing my problem. I think i can delete the spring from the equation and fix my problem. what do you think?

Not sure, I've never used the input shaft repair kit at all, why did you use it to begin with? Was there a spring before? Anybody got any other input for this?

i got the repair kit just in case. the repair kit is just in case the input shaft has a grove on it which it did. i think my hydrolic system is the problem not. i tried bleeding the system and the damn thing wont bleed right. a lot of air coming out of the bleeder and the resevior isnt going down at all. i'm gonna get a stainless stell line and try that before i replace the release cylinder
