The cowbell under my car was driving me mad so I had to do something! I crawled underneath my car with the sawzall tonight. They looked like a pain to cut off, so instead I just cut off the bracket holding them on and replaced it with a hoseclamp. I dont know if it will solve the problem though.

I had a cowbell too....last summer I lopped them off. The header shields were loose for some reason beyond my knowledge, so I cut them right off. No regrets....so far.

At least there is no rattle. Maybe having them helps the "hot stay hot" and force the gases down the pipes faster...but its either that or my sanity.

Seeing as I'm going for a swap....I'm none too worried about losing 5-10 hp where I'll be gaining 200+.

Shouldn't cause any issues. If you're worried about the performance, either wrap them or get coated headers (see also TWE).
