View Full Version : Single Best Upgrade?

What would you say is the single best upgrade you've bought for your Suby?

I knew when I purchased my projectors it was an amazing improvement over the stock lights. But after making a 50+ mile trip (one way) tonight in the middle of nowhere Vermont, I can definitely say the projectors were the best money spent so far.

My borla header. I added it after my exhaust and it took it up a big notch in the higher RPMs. My tach literally accelerates to the redline after it hits 4k. It makes the craziest howling noise on the way up too. Best upgrade yet.

For me it's a tie between the 22mm RSB and the King Springs.

definitely the 17" wheels with falken tires for me. I've never squealed a tire going around a corner with these. a huge improvement over the stock steelies, so much more control

Well im still pretty new to the sight and havent done that much yet, in process of swappin in a wrx motor, but as of now, simply changin out the black dash kit and nasty cloth panels for the wood grain look with black leather doors. Makes it feel so much more comfy!!!

Stiffer engine/trans/crossmember mounts.

I would agree, that and a larger rear sway bar ftw.

My JDM projectors started the whole thing, but I'd say a tie between the GT brake upgrade and the WRX Suspension.

Nonblown shocks were fun. An MBC was great, it really woke the car up, 8psi was NOT cutting it for me. I love my 4 Hella 500's too. '07 WRX seats are so comfy. I can't narrow it down to just one.

i wanted a set for a long time, so i could retro them and have something different than the jdm, but the JDM ones are much nicer in construction and much easier to retro

Still F'n love it, and it'll be hard to top for sure. 250 whp ftw!

Does havin a wrx motor sittin on the bench in your garage count as an upgrade? FML!

Fidanza flywheel.

No question.

I haven't done much yet, but I'm going to say the JDM projectors for now, especially once the HIDs go in tomorrow. Such a huge safety upgrade, especially with all the rainy days around here.

2nd would be..oddly...the updated, upgraded oil separator cover. I hate oil leaks, and that was the biggest oil leak on my engine, so it was a very worthwhile upgrade for me.

Wire close hanger shut in my hood so I can pull it out by where the windshield wipers are. No more being stranded with the keys locked in the car. ;)

Put a short shifter in my 98 Outback yesterday. What a difference. The car is so much more fun to drive now!!

A non-leaking turbo inlet for my WRX. For the LGT, it was probably the TWE manifold, oh yeah. Even though they leaked. That could have been fixed pretty easily though.

Reason

Lets keep this topic to actual best mods and not fixed problems.

Sarra

TWE manifold wasn't fixing a problem, it was just awesome. I'd do it again if I had a NA Subie.

i would have to say underdrive light weight crank pulley as the best bang for the buck, of course all the free/cheap mods are good and fun too

Reason
04-16-2010, 08:02 AM
As for bang for the buck I noticed more "power" and better throttle response from my engine mounts. Maybe if I got a full pulley kit over just the crank pulley then I would say otherwise.

No mods yet, just trying to get it to run right. In the long run, I would have to say the best mod I have ever done for any car, was race driving lessons.
