which ones? forester xt or outback xt. iv driven both and i love the forester xt but it only comes in 5eat and the leather feels cheap. the outback is nice but it cost 5k-8k more.

i think he was refering to a model called xt not a trim level, they were made in 80's, i think they are fugly as hell but when i get a house with garage i am going to try to find an xt6 do a manual swap on it and boost the damn thing keeping exterior mostly stock for ultimate fugly sleeper look. the interior is very futuristic in them for their time. and i think they were more aerodynamic then ferraris of that era. lol.

oh and i think i read somewhere that svx is what replaced them eventually.

It's worse than that - Forester XT still has the 4EAT. Only the Outback XT got the 5EAT, and it's gone for 2010 altogether, so go out and get it or the 5-speed manual while you can.

yeah, i meant the model XT or XT6. and yes the SVX did replace them, if i remember right, they were both sold overseas as the ALCYONE

and they are ugly..

im going to check out a couple a guy is trying to sell tomorrow. ones a 5mt :smt026

Old school XT is pretty cool and interesting to me as a Subaru enthusiast.

I honestly like the XT6 and XT. There's something about them, and yes they are kind of ugly and wierd but, it's a Subaru and I think it would awesome to have one for a beater. It would turn heads for sure and people would wonder what the hell it was.

agreed, they're weird, which is why i like them. you'll probably be the only one around that has one. I'd buy it

Telescopic Steering Wheel FTW! I liked the way a part of the dash moved with it as well.

Definitely a rarity around here.

I've thought they were cool since I was a kid and saw one in the movie Big with Tom Hanks. The older chick he was 'dating' had one.

yeah, i went and checked them out and they werent worth the weight in scrap.

kinda frustrating, cause i emailed the guy back and forth several times about the condition of them, and of course everything was in good shape over email, but then i get to his lot, and they are practically grown into the ground and mostly missing....

WTF? like im not going to find out? what a waste of time...

he even opened the hood, and awakened a wasp nest and got stung a bunch.


oh well, cant win em all.

That sucks. It's hard to find a low volume car that old in good shape without paying through the nose it seems.

Anywho, not trying to rub salt in any wounds, but here's the ONLY XT from the Guinness Record parade last weekend:
