Did a oil change today and I plan on sending a oil sample out by the end of the week.. on the sheet talking about "Was the oil changed when the sample was taken?" Do they mean before the sample or after I took the sample?

well. If you are getting an oil change, most likely you will have better access to the oil in the engine. More importantly, the oil after 3k has some wear and when they test it will show issues, problems etc. I would say yes. in their thinking, you are not going to be sending them something from the store that is straight from the jug. Why send them (and pay) to let them know the synthetic oil you are thinking about putting in your car is synthetic and bla bla bla. you know what I'm talking about.
Plus I am sure they can tell by the color ;)
