which exhaust best for 98 legacy gt 2.5

hey i'm sick of looking on google with no answers...and i'm sorry if this is in the wrong spot but i'm new here at SLI.

just wondering which is the best full exhaust for my car? i want something that will be not too loud (i hate when you can't talk when you are cruising) but make me excited when i step on it.

Stromung is very nice, but at nearly $1000 for a midpipe + axleback you could have 5 or 6 custom exhausts made up for the same price.

My recommendation for someone on a budget is a custom midpipe mated to a decent axleback (if you can afford it get a lightweight canister), installed by a good exhaust shop (someone with a mandrel bender). That should cost you around $200.

Borla replica headers can be had on eBay for $150-200 as well.

awesome i'll check that out..yea my brother is a welder and i have access to benders i'll just make that myself 1000 little to steep for me...anyone have any comments for dynomax mufflers? good not so good etc

I have a Stromung axle back and a borla header. Stock in between. My car isn't obnoxiously loud, but it does rumble with some bass. If you don't want to do something like Stromung or Borla for your exhaust, my only advice to you is to go stainless steel at the very least. My muffler is still clean and healthy after 2 western new york salty, icey, snowy crap winters. If you are anywhere where it snows, SS is a must.

yea i'm in PA and i love snow :) does anyone know where i can find a template for making my own pipes? or should i just measure out my existing one?

There aren't any - but you can use your own. Frankly, if you can weld, and you can bend pipe, DIY and save a lot. Don't even bother with the Stromung stuff.

well stromung doesnt make cat backs for the 2nd gen legacy anymore. so u can get an axle back for 440 and have a custom midpipe made. it wont be 1000 dollars tho. closer 2 600

^ I agree don't bother with the stronmg stuff. You can fab your own setup like I did and it with sound just a good if not better and will cost half the price. I believe it was going to be like almost $1200 for a stronmg setup and I paid almost $500 for all parts (full exhaust with header) and labor...
