Outside temperature display

ok so i've been trying to find out how to change my climate control to show me Celsius instead of Farenheit, just to fill people in i have BE H6 so it comes standard with auto climate which show the temperature insteasd of having it it in the cluster like manaul controlled BE/BH do. So far i have taken apart the climate control module completely and the only hting that you can change is the light bulbs, there are no relays switches or anyother types of movable switchable parts on the insdide/outside of it. looking at the outside temperature display diagram (ill post it here later) the only thing i found is that rhd model and lhd model have different pins connected to the sensor wich makes me believe that its all about pin outs. If anyone has more input on this is greatly appreciated.

On the JDM models you can hold down a certain combination of buttons and switch the unit into a diagnostic mode.

Not sure how that will cross over to your models as i cant recall what your climate units look like

Just found this;

Testing

Hold down the Auto and Recirculate buttons while switching on the ignition. The climate unit will flash a test display (all symbols on) and beep four times. After that it will display a troubleshooting code. If it says 20 then all is well so far. If it says 25 you probably have your car in the shade; try parking it in sunlight. If anything else, double check your wiring.

Press Defrost to begin the self-test cycle. The unit will cycle through a variety of tests and display the number of each test as it runs. Check that everything operates as shown in the test chart below. If this all works OK, ensure the engine starts normally and no fault lights appear.
First, some important notes. It seems there are several different types of 'standard' (i.e. non -satnav) climate panel available; 000, 100, 170 and 180. There may even be others for all I know.

The 030 is the satnav-style one.

The 000 and 100 were used from 1998 to 2000 and have a built-in air temperature sensor. I've no idea what the difference between the two is.

The 170 and 180 were used from 2001 to 2003 and have a separate air sensor located in the dash surround. I'm not sure what the official difference between them is but I do know the 180 doesn't have the little buzzer inside that makes it beep when you press buttons. Maybe someone else here can explain in better detail.

yeah its the same only mirrored

well i did self diagnosis test and although it tested all components and they all work no luck converting to celsius yet.

This might be a dumb question... but did you try contacting Subaru America with the p/n to see if it was ever designed to show Celsius?

no i havent and you are right i have no idea if it will show celsius, but by looking at european models with same unit makes me believe its something in the pinout, unit is just a screen that will show whatever signal it gets.

Maybe a jumper switch inside the unit on the PCB then...

nope there is nothing inside the unit that is movable
