How much did it cost to get your car painted? I dont wanna get screwed over so I just want to get a good range from you guys.
I want to get my crappy black plastic side molding body color matched also.

Did exactly the same thing, cost about $3500 or so in the end I think, it was my 17th Bday present so I'm not exactly sure but I think thats about what it was. Had all the black stuff painted too.
Peace,
Kyle

I painted my bumpers and all the black parts. Cost me close to $200 in materials. Easily twice that for an entire car. Of course, I had to tape everything off, sand and clean it, and paint it. all that took a lot of time, so factor in labour....
I know people who have gotten paint jobs for 400-500 dollars, but theyre acrylic paint and not terribly well done. They also did a lot of the prep work themselves.
Dont skimp on a paintjob, but dont pay too much either.

Im not sure now. I really dont have any money to spend on a paint job, and I dont wanna pay 500 to get a half-assed job. I would try to do it myself, I dont mind putting a little time and effort into it, but I have NO room to work.. it would have to be done all outside and its just a little cold atm.
sha_zapple my car looks almost the same as yours except I still have the black plastic, Im pretty much going for the same look as you, although if I was getting it done professionally I was going to change the color. (Im the kid over on NASIOC that was asking about taking off the black molding a week or two ago)

If you don't have the money, and are not brave... DONT DO IT.
You can't paint in cold weather either - outdoors or inside. The paint won't cure.
Preparation is key - and if you DO decide to paint - go somewhere where DEALERSHIPS go...and walk away if the paintshop staff are a-holes to you.
If they don't fill you with confidence, let you walk around the shop, show you how they mix paint etc. and aren't genuinely interested in you and your car, walk the hell away.
Try to pick a color that can be easily duplicated - one without a pearl base, those cost the MOST to do. Unless this car is going to be dedicated "showtime" - you want something that can be easily cared for and durable.

thanks, good advice.. Im thinking about just scrapping this project, maybe just wait and paint the black plastic myself once it gets warm outside.

A good tip is to find out who does the repair work for the city vehicles - like the police, fire and EMS - those vehicles need to be stringently regulated, so there can be no corner cutting with them.

Mine was for a bunch of dents, prep work on new body parts, stripping down some of the old and getting a full respray.
Peace,
Kyle
