short throw help

ok so i looked thru the DIY section and up to about page 5 on this section and maybe im blind but i couldnt find anything. anyways i bought a short throw for my 99gt sedan and i wanted to know if anyone could tell me how hard it is to install? im using my buddies lift cuz i was gunna do it myself but if its too hard ill just have a garage do it..any help would be wonderful

you shouldn't need a lift, i installed mine with all of 4 tools
screw driver -trim pieces
2 10mm wrenches bolt and nut than run through the shifter
2ft 2x4 to give the new sifter a good whack to seat it

unless i really did it incorrectly :D redneck ingenuity FTW :P

lol well i think i got the tools all set i might need to hit up the local Home Depot and grab some wood lol but as long as i dont need to get underneath the car to connect to any shift linkage or anything complicated then im all set. i bought a RZ racing one on Ebay for 50 bucks idk if anyopne has one of those or anything similar but i wanna know how good they work out and if having a short throw is even worth it...

this is the new one installed, a good tip for removing the stock shifter:
after you have un-bolted the linkage from the shifter spin the shifter 180 so the bend is reversed and pull down and towards the rear of the car ( you really have to put some elbow grease into it at this point :) ) the ball @ the bottom will pop out grease up the new shifter and set it on to the socket where the old one popped out of and give a good whack with your board, it should pop down into the socket, if it didn't hit harder.

put the bushing in the new one and bolt it in and bam your done

my shifter is a little different but generally the same i guess, but i ran into some difficulty tryin to put it in i didnt realize the little ball at the end wasnt attached so i took some unneeded steps and jacked the car to see if it was attached and then finally i just turned it and forced it out..lol but its in and greased up and shifting nice but it isnt as short as yours is height wise but oh well anyways thanks for posting your pics and helpin me out

I realize that the knob will end up in about the same spot but I was just wondering if anyone has had better or worse luck with either style.

I have a kartboy shortie on my car, it's angled but it works great.

Honestly I would think that with a straight shifter your rest point for the shift knob is going to be slightly different.
