After much PM'ing in the RS25 forum I decided to ask the Professionals
I emailed Cometic Gasket Inc and they replied to me with GREAT news
For this application they have a EJ22/25 Hybrid Head Gasket

BELOW IS THE EMAIL I RECEIVED FROM Kevyn Kistner from Cometic Gasket Inc
Ant,
For the most part all Subaru head gaskets are very close if not the
same for coolant layout. We do know that there are certain EJ22 heads out
there that have a slightly different pattern. Because of this we have come
out with a "HYBRID" style gasket so there isn't an issue maintaining correct
coolant temperatures though out the system. The part number is
H1631SPK040S. I have also attached a picture of this gasket so you can
double check that this pattern matches up to the heads you plan to run.
Please pay close attention to the water hole locations as oppose to the size
of the actual coolant holes. If you have any further questions please do
not hesitate to contact me.

Good info.
And why are you running the hybrid build if you're not going to boost?

I know Kevyn Kistner, his dad Mel Kistner is/was the Service Manager for a local Subaru dealership. Kevyn used to be heavily involved with the local subaru community, don't know how much more now.

Good info.

With the EJ25D block and the EJ222 heads it will raise the compression and giving me more N/A power. High compression is not good for boost, plus Im not a boost person. I like it natural ^__^. I think for boost you would go the other way around and do EJ22 block with EJ25D heads so it would lower the compression? I don't know boost, but I do know what I want to build will give me a fun car to drive :smt023 and probably enough to take on stock 2.0L WRX's

That's AWESOME. I knew I was in good hands with Cometic and now I feel at home then

That's cool, they make custom gaskets for anybody's specific needs.

general rule is to use the headgaskets that would go with the block, in this case the 2.5L HGs would work.

See that's what I thought at first, but according to xMOSHx in RS25 who's built a few of these he says that the EJ25 HG can't handle the increased compression and that he'll go thru EJ25D HG's in 30Kmiles. He uses EJ257 HG from the USDM STi. He says that it works, but some coolant lines don't line up and the Head runs hotter then the block. For that reason alone I contacted Cometic Gasket Inc to see what they would recommend and found that they make a custom EJ22/25 hybrid gasket which solves my problem :smt023
OT: Whts good with the RPS13 got a member ride thread that I can check it out???

NA BATTLE!!!
i just brought my heads to a private engine builder to port and polish
thats a sweet find on that gasket though i might have to get my hands on them :)
just wondering what your gonna use for fuel delivery? can u run stock fuel pumps for this set up or do we need to upgrade?
also are you gonna use a piggyback or pp6 or something of that sort?
this could get fun :smt026

I don't think you necessarily have to upgrade the fuel delivery.... I'm not
I've cut my build down to budget build unless I can get a deal on PnP on the heads, but I don't think Ima have a choice because Im looking at the EJ222 ports and they are not big enough so I might have to bite the bullet and find a shop close by to port my head.
For EM Im planing on running a PP6 because brand new a APEXi SAFC and PP6 run bout the same price
NA Battle you say? I say Trai-lo... bring it. I like friendly competition but only if ur not one of those over competitive type ppl. I don't care to beat no one's numbers. The only person I wanted to beat in NA WHP I have. So this is just to make my BD a more fun car to drive :smt023
We need to make NA Mafia stickers :smt026

oh no im definetly not overcompetitive lol. my best buddy has a mark3 supra turbo i dont compete lol :smt013
yeah i just wanted the na stuff because its different and im curious as to what na subaru can handle ( though im sure i wont be pushing it)
the guy im having do my pnp said he would probably charge me around 2-250 for the pnp and to re-seat/ smothe the valves for better flow im interested to see how this goes.
i was lookin at the pp6 too but dont know exactly what i will need to tune this setup
as for fuel ill be changing some stuff cause my cars goin on 15 with i think stock stuff
if you finish yours first you definetly gotta let me know how it does.
as for competing numbers? being able to accelerate in my car without worrying about how much oil is getting dumped down my exhaust is about all im gonna compete for lol. im just curious to see how your build plays out (and mine lol)

Wow 250 per head im guessing. :smt023 Not bad. I need to find those rates around me here.
I'll keep you posted
Are you doing this to ur current engine or do you have an engine on the side?
theboyo19

definetly on the side lol. the one in my car now had bad rings blowing oil out my nice clean exhaust :smt021
that unfortunately threw a bearing on my way to school on tuesday. now its parked outside my garage waiting patiently for its new heart

thats a good way to think about it lol
i was hoping for 0 downtime i was just saving a little longer so my bank account doesnt go to pennies after this :smt010
