Impreza A-Pillar gauge pod mounted on a Legacy

For those of you that want to mount whatever gauges you have, a 93-01 Impreza A-pillar gauge pod from ebay will fit our cars. Not 100% perfect, but it looks fine.

Have you thought of putting it around the dash area? makes it look much cleaner and less noticeable to thieves..

Yeah, I thought about a 3 gauge DIN cluster, but its just too far down there to look while driving. I would have also like to do a top of the dash 3 gauge pod, like the Impreza, but I didn't really want to cut up the dash. This way, I can keep my eyes more on the road. As for thieves, I hope the fact that it is just another Outback will help it remain un-noticed.

Edit: Yes, A-pillar gauge pods = rice, but for me, its the only practical place to put them without blocking the main cluster.

That would be another good option, but again, the pods would block some view to the main cluster.

Believe you me sir, unless my car was stolen out of spite, your car being "just another outback" will not stop thieves from stealing your car. Not too long ago some douchenozzles decided to steal my car out from in front of my house in a somewhat out of the way neighborhood (about 2 blocks away from the main drag, can't see the house from the closest well-traveled road) while I was at a friends house for the night. My car is dented, dirty, stock white, no tint, and I had most everything hidden (anything that wasn't hidden was black), so it looked like "just another Legacy wagon", which I see all over the place around here. I myself was lucky enough to have at least gotten the car back after they stripped it of all my possessions, you may not be so lucky. By the way my locks were all locked when I left it, we have all of the keys, and there was no damage to the locks/ignition, so your guess is as good as mine as to how it happened.

Yep, I've broken into my own car a couple times. The alarm went off as soon as I opened the door, but the keys were inside, so I could turn it off.

How do you figure that a-pillar pods are "RICE".
First off its the safest most visible location for gauges
Second i think your vacuum gauge is more rice the a-pillar gauge pods
and 3rd i had them in my non riced out wrx and i loved it especially a full a-pillar pod replacement like mine.

Plus i like how it looks in your car but your choice of gauges could have been better. Unless that air/fuel gauge is a wide band its completely useless minus a dancing color light and a vacuum gauge is useless too except maybe to detect a leak in a vacuum line. You should have gotten oil pressure or temperature

I know off topic but i miss her and you got me looking at my old pics. I love my new legacy gt wagon tho too. Im not hating on you but it looks great and is far from rice.

My use of the term "rice" was sort of just to laugh at myself for the fact that I was putting performance parts into what most people see as another station wagon. I don't really think they are rice, I was just mocking myself.

The first picture is old; I just stuck that old vacuum gauge in there while my Prosport boost gauge was getting mailed. The AFR gauge is indeed a wideband; Its an Innovate LC-1.

My car is boosted, so yes, I do have a reason to need gauges. :cool:

I've been toying with the Idea of the GC RS Nav Surround. It fits flush on our dash, lip works on the lip of our dash, just short by 1/2 inch.

Wow is that a custom setup supercharger? i never heard of such a thing on a suby.

Yep, its 100% custom. A company called Raptor Superchargers makes a kit, but its totally different. This is the only setup of its kind in the world, to my knowledge. Check my signature for the link to the build with more info.

It is putting down somewhere in the 210 HP range. I've got some plans to reduce the charge pipe restriction, and eliminate belt slip that should get me another PSI of boost (up to 5-6) to hit about 230, or about the same as a stock WRX. It is definitely fun to drive, and when the air is cold, it really howls. The instant boost is awesome too. I basically get boost from idle all the way to the redline.

Edit: I should note that this is on a completely stock engine. I do have a PP6 for tuning, but I am very limited in my tuning skills. I'm sure a good tuner could get another 15 HP out of the setup.
