dude, does it make sense to dyno an automatic? I still feel in the back of my head that I should quit playing with my legacy as long as it stays with the 4EAT, lol
I don't listen however.

Antinos put down 130whp at the ECS/CTsubie meet, so you are most likely a little under that. I plan on having around that with my 2.2 for this dyno day :smt023 Yes 2.2

Reason
08-11-2009, 10:32 PM
I have nothing done since the meet, I have a few things done since my last dyno session. I should have the work done in september, I was hoping before the sept 12th meet but I doubt I will have everything by then. I've been talking with Tom at Wickid Innovation and we have lists of things I need to get and what he is getting for me. It should be interesting when it's done. This stuff is just to hold me over till I swap. And I have to build a whole engine for that, but it already is planned out.

ECS is insane, their new facility is awesome. I put down a 130WHP with just bolt ons at the ECS dyno, but don't forget my favorite mods too, dirty intake filter and exhaust leak :smt021 lol
Those are getting fixed by next week(i hope) and I'm def. looking forward to this so I can see any improvements and i might have some extra goodies by then too :smt023
Make it happen Shane and lets get a list going so ECS and Shane can get an idea of how many are going to go. This time put me in the YES list instead of MAYBE :smt023

Not many at this point, I havent pushed it yet till I know a date and price. I'll have 1-2 friends outside of here that will be there. I figured there will be around 10 cars give or take a couple. I already told Paul that it will be small and not some kind of super meet and he was fine with it.

This probably makes me look a weenie, but do dynos cause any damage/undue stress? My 150K mile drivetrain needs to last until Shane can start ripping on it.

This is a good opportunity, even with some of the same mods or stock cars we will all have different numbers. It would be good to get some base numbers before you start modding or continue to mod so you can see your gains in the future.

Good Morning Gentleman!
ECS Performance is looking forward to this Dyno Day on November 7th!
We just wanted to join up on this forum, get involved, and let you guys know that we'd never forget about the legacies ;)
I can already see that Reason has done a great job on getting you guys the information you need, and he's been a pleasure to correspond with. :smt023
To answer a few questions I've seen posted, yes, there will be a waiver that you will have to sign before getting your beast strapped down to our dyno... Along with an information sheet, where you will fill out your mods, year make and model of car, and a space for dyno specifications. If you only want us to take it to 5,000rpm, we will, we have no interest in taking anyone's car past where they'd like it to go.
No, it does not matter at all whether or not your car is AWD/FWD/or RWD! Heck, our Mustang in-floor dynamometer even has the capacity to handle Motorcycles, and we recently held our first-ever Motorcycle Dyno Day! For those worried about milage, we've had plenty of high milage cars on our dynamometer. At the CTSubie Dyno Day, we had a late 90s Volvo 850 Sedan made well over 300ft./lbs of torque on a motor with 204,000 miles on it!
evolegacy - as long as there is no play in the wheel there is absolutely no problem with throwing your Legacy on the dyno!
Please feel free to come, hang out, check out our facilities, and meet the ECS Performance Staff, even if you don't want to/can't put your car up on the dyno!
We look forward to the 7th!

I don't know what scs is, and this event is aimed at a lower attendance. I'm hoping theres more Legacy's than anything. Getting a full meet of all Subarus isnt a problem, but keeping it to what SLi is about (Legacy owners and a few fans of the Legacy with the misfortune of owning a wrx etc lol). Minimum cars for the dyno will be set at 10, we are almost there and if need be I can get more people with out a problem. Also ECS can fill in some spots no problem.

From the dyno plot on ecs' website and the numbers, it sounds like he has cams along with the headwork as well. Header, cams, headwork, all the bolt-ons; typical n/a setup once youve gone past the bolt-on stage, hell he didn't even raise the redline like some other people have done once theyve reached that point. Nothing really groundbreaking as RS guys have been doing those kinds of mods and getting similar numbers for years...

So I'm a damn idiot for agreeing with the change of date without looking at my school schedule. I have a welding class 7am-330pm on the 7th and it will take me 2 hours to get to ECS. So I'm in a bind, I think we are past the point to change the date and I cant miss class again so I might not make it to this which I'm pissed about.

fill me in on your numbers, cuz you still got me wondering what im putting out since you said its odd that mine pulls so much, your numbers could give me a base amount for mine since we have just about the same setup minus my SRI to your CAI and my 2.5 to your 2.2

11-09-2009, 04:41 PM
well first things first i need to find a new tranny because i think that was the biggest problem we had, then yeah i actually need cold not hot air intake, and exhaust work the car is bone stock there is nothing done to it so the numbers are more or less correct but i did expect better around 170 dont really know how i lost 56 hp from the crank but did none the less. lol.

expect 33% (roughly) drivetrain loss.
Dan Heresmymind has more mods and he's in the 140+ I think Ant has more too but not totally sure and he was 128? or something. You have a 2.5" exhaust right? that may hurt you like it do to me. Other than your exhaust you don't have anything to give you real power. So 115-125 maybe a 130 on a cold day with a good run.

expect 128-140. the obx header is what ill bring you up. 2.25" exhaust is key, that is the major difference between me and Antinino's car and he made 10hp less than me. and he has 1 more mode than me (intake manifold spacers).

U'll probably be seeing same numbers are bradon 140 if ur engine has the little mileage that his does. Ur expect too much out of none HP adding mods. Ur power mods that I can see is ur intake and exhaust, everything else just smooths the power that you already have  sux I KNOW, we are all in the same boat. Its hard to make power without boost and that's coming from a Guy who doesn't like boost.

My engine also has 170K. Also had a run in with water when I ran the CAI for a few weeks, I need to take a look at the spark plugs and see how messed up they got from that mess. Also u have a rebuilt engine :
So I think I have a few issues I have to work out, also I think my ECU is running my car on "SAFE" mode because of that CAI incident and the Piggy back POS that I have to remove. Ima try to dyno again after I fix up the issue I picked up between last dyno run and this one.

the block has roughly 40k on it. but ya I know what you are saying about the CAI and the exhaust being the only real power adders, and im fine with that, I didnt expect them to make too much but when i saw the numbers you guys made it got my hopes up. i plan to do a lot to the block and heads themselves to edge out as much power as I can w/o giving it boost. Turbos and SCs confuse me, there's too much $$$ involved for what little you actually make out of them. (AVO kit for example).
